Essendon are now the one to watch out for - They can win the premiership

We can, but i think the weakness is the forward line. Even with Langford in form, a lack of KPP small forwards relies more on the mids to make up for it on the scoreboard. If Stringer and Wright get back in form then i'd be more bullish.

It's still a good thing for Essendon fans to experience. and winning 2 consecutive finals games would be something the fans haven't seen since 2004.

Dodoro doesn't deserve credit, blokes been a massive fraud for 15 years.

Brad Scott on the other hand has them playing with a harder edge & tougher attitude, with more desperation than I've seen since a Sheedy coached side, or that flash in the pan when Bomber was coaching them that 1 year. Makes a big difference having a decent coach, and despite what anyone want to crap on with, Scott did have North playing bloody well for the list they had in 2014-15. Jury is out on him not running this side into the ground when they show signs of bottoming out years from now (if it goes that way) but he's done a good job thus far.

Need to see Dons put away some more teams thereabouts to the top 6, but they're looking solid, apart from a terrible percentage. Probably a 5-8th place finish realistically.

Missing forward line quality & depth to really take it up to the highest level it feels, and bottom 6 that might be exploited in finals.

Time to cancel those September plans.

They're like us. Easy draw has resulted in an early ladder position that doesn't tell the whole story, and has come from wins against mostly bottom-tier sides.
Yep such an easy draw that we were being tipped for the four.... not the top 4 but bottom 4 of the ladder.

Such an easy draw that in our first 9 games we were only favs in 2 of them.

Watch next week when Freo beat the Pies and cats beat the giants... and essendon is a paper top 4 side with zero wins against the top 8.

Essendon are one to watch because we beat a winless North playing one quarter of good football? At least wait until round 20. We have the hardest fixture in the competition after the bye.

Just a Carlton fan trying to set us up when we inevitably fall.

I think the top 6 on the ladder is actually a true reflection of the contenders.

Essendon are the second best side in the comp at the moment.

Throw a blanket over Geelong, Melbourne, Port and Collingwood as the next tier down. Brisbane will end up in this list, as will Carlton and GWS, who look very shaky now.

All the contenders (apart from Sydney) are, or have, fallen away.

GWS have lost 3 in a row and are struggling

Carlton have lost 4 of 6

Geelong have lost three in a row

Melbourne have lost two and appear to be a bit off the pace

Collingwood lost their first three, setting them back.

Brisbane haven’t got going and have injuries.

…. All of the above has created the perfect storm for Essendon to somehow waltz into second place, being perhaps the worst team to ever occupy such a lofty position at this stage of the season.

I pronounce them the Bradbury Bombers.
