Haha.

I reckon every single person has thought about James Hird for every single pick but no-one wanted to jump to early for fear of looking biased.

If he was still there at my next pick, I would have taken him.

The only hesitation I had was the fact that he is past 30 and of course injury prone. I plan to give him weeks off here and there.

But when others have picked players over 30 like Buckley, Ricciuto et al I simply could not let him pass.

i cant believe it, the two players i wanted with my two next pics gone one after the other right before my pics, going to have to give my next a good think about.

I think most teams are fairly even so far, just a matter of difference between where each players positions but most teams have 4 good quality players.

I think the next 6 rounds will be where the relative strengths of most teams will be decided.

Glad with the selection of R.O'Keefe. Could have picked others but I rate this guy very highly and didnt wanna risk to see how low he'd slide. Anyway sorry I took all day, hope the rest of picks flow along nicely.

And keep the chat up too.

Interesting to see parallels between the Carlton game and this one. Both had Brown going at 1 so unlike the national draft, best available isn't always the best strategy.

Seeing Tredrea going at 13 was good to see. I got him for a steal at 38 in our game.

Old Dark Navy's is there any other selections that have surprised you? And good luck Paul!
Plenty. Age doesn't seem to be a factor with many of these selections so I take it it is a one season only deal, not looking at the future as well.

Kirk went a little earlier here than I would have thought. Harvey and Ricciuto too. For instance Ricciuto went at #27 here and #115 on the Blues board.

Others:

Kirk #23 here, 107 on Blues board
Lucas #24 here, #56 on Blues board (natural I guess)
Joel Bowden #29 here, #74 there
Johncock #26 here, #71 there
Goodwin #21 here, #48 there
McLeod #31 here, #111 there
Neitz #34 here, still not taken in the Blues draft as yet (115 picks)
Buckley #45 here, #73 there
Chris Johnson #46 here, not taken yet there
Hird #49 here, not taken yet there
Robert Harvey #52 here, not taken yet there

Everitt and Gehrig not taken yet on our draft.

Richo #63 here, #90 there
Jolley #65 here, not taken yet there.

You guys would probably be surprised at ours too though. Marc Murphy went first round (though that was a flippant pick), Kane Cornes went 30 positions lower.

I'll say nothing else because other standouts are in my sights. ;)

Interesting to see the differances from both drafts, just shows that everyones got diff opinions on players. They also seem to share lot more about their team/selections. Are people on this board trying to hide their cards or just not on as much as them? Or am I just wrong all together and there is enough disscussion.

Well you can only really comment on the players who have been selected so far. It will be interesting to see which way bomberboy goes with his next selection considering he has selected 4 talls so far.

I am finding strategy hard since I have 30 picks inbetween each of my choices. It seems like last week when I last had a pick! My strategy constantly changes, to be honest it depeneds on what everyone else picks.

For example if If I say had my first pick around 6 to 10 I probably would have gone with a "get the spine ie key position players first" However a lot of people started with that strategy so there was not as good quality talls when my picks at 16 & 17 came around. There had been about 10 talls to 5 smalls picked so I decided to go with what I considered the two best smalls in Black and Hodge although I was 50/50 whether to select Hodge or Burgoyne.
