I think Port Adelaide is well served targeting 19 and 20-year-olds. There is every indication that they are making a tilt at making a premiership, picking a few players who have blossomed after their draft year gives Port added depth without sacrificing their future.

Oskar Baker (Aspley Hornets)
182cm/76kg
2.98 sec (20m)

Very impressive goal-kicking wingman in the NEAFL after being cut from the Brisbane academy. Regularly kicking goals with several games which included 20+ possessions and multiple goals.

Bailey Banfield (Claremont Tigers)
189cm/86kg
2.96 sec (20m)(2016)
92cm (running vertical)
21.5 Yo-Yo

One of the few players to test well in every major category. He combines a large leap with good speed, agility, and endurance. Bounced back from the disappointment of missing out in 2016 to win the Claremont B&F as a 19-year-old. Averaged 24 touches and 5 tackles a game. Needs work on his kicking but I consider players with his size, output and athletic ability to be worth a chance in the 4th round.

Pick 66- Ben Miller 196cm 98 kg Ruckman/ Key Position Subiaco

Athletic tall who can run and jump and really improved as the year went on.
Has a bit of aggression in the way he plays and has played senior footy in Kalgoorlie since he was 15.
Has a decent kicking style which will hold up okay at AFL level.
I think his go will be as a swingman who can also play second ruck.
His athleticism should allow him to become more proficient down back in time.
Ripping kid who will give footy a red hot go.

Looks like MightyDons4 walked right into my trap.

Hawthorne will actually select Callan England with Pick 68.
73kg / 182cm
Claremont

Once again I can only base my selection on reading I've done.

Spewing about Ballard as we really need someone to develop into the next Roughy and to play alongside O'Brien... and something something Vickery. Anyway, Callan England is something of a project for us at Pick 68, but we think he has a lot of upside. He's a very good athlete - junior state champ in WA - quick, excellent stamina and mobile in traffic. He uses his athleticism to win a lot of ball on the outside, with WA Coach, Peter Sumich, drawing comparisons to a young Andrew Gaff. England only turns 18 this month, so he has plenty of developing to do, but we think with Houlahan and England we've got a couple of good, hard running players. We would look to develop England's inside game as well. He was the only player we tested who could spell 'avocado' backwards.

Collingwood select Patrick Wilson

The addition of another inside midfielder may come as a shock given Collingwood's riches in that position, but at pick 70, selecting a 22 year old who has played senior SANFL footy in 2017 seems a no brainer. Unlike Collingwood's other picks, Wilson comes to the club ready to step into the senior team when called upon. He is immediate depth, albeit for Collingwood's strongest field position.

Pick 71 Tom De Koning 201cm 90kg Ruck/ Forward Dandenong Stingrays

Big Tom is an AIS kid who improved a truckload this year even though his year was crueller by injury in the second half.
Tom took strides in his ability to mark the footy and remain active in the game.
He showed a greater attack on the footy both as a forward and as a ruckman.
he is growing into his body and will be a big man in time.
The dockers have lost Clarke and Griffin and I think big Tom and Ben are two young tall who have a chance to develop.

Here is his pick

Pick 73: Carlton – Brayden Crossley
Queensland/Allies/Gold Coast Academy

Crossley might be old fashioned but to have someone his size who scraps so hard and does the little things so well is a confidence booster when you're on the field. Especially as a mid. He throws his weight around the contests, tackles, shepherds and his skills while not amazing are acceptable for his size.
His champs form reminds me a lot of Country's Sean Darcy from last year who went on to be so impressive in his first year at Freo.
I feel like Crossley could be even better.
Won the Allies best and fairest.

Pick 75: Chris Jones
196cm / 85kg
Box Hill

Chris Jones has worked hard at Box Hill to develop his body and his skill set over the last three years. This year he found the confidence in his size to find some dominance up forward, finishing the season with the Hawks' second most number of goals, behind Ty Vickery. Still only 22 years old, Jones has a lot of development left in him and we're hoping he can eventually muscle his way into the best 22, especially with Jarryd Roughead perhaps looking at retirement in the next 2 - 3 years. Jones is still raw, but we think his elevation could be the confidence boost he needs to really move forward.
