Pick 43 - Geelong

Sam Philp - Northern Knights
Midfielder - 185cm 86kg

Geelong take best player available in Philp for mine and pick up a another cog for their future midfield. Philp is an stoppage specialist with undervalued speed away from the contest. I say undervalued because he should actually use it more than he does. Dominated for the knights this year, regardless of by he fact that he didn't play at the National champs for Metro, which isn't a indictment when you look at the guys who did (I.e Rowell, Anderson, Bianco, Maginess etc).

Will need a bit of development to his body but Geelong can afford that with their current midfield. A future midfield of Philp, Constable, Fogarty, Parfitt, Clark, Narkle is a great succession plan

Ya kidding, thought he was going to slip through

Pick 46: Sam Lowson.

This is arguably the biggest reach of the draft but Lowson for me is absolutely an AFL standard small forward from what he showed this year before going down with injury after kicking 16 goals in his first 7 games. He definitely has the willingness to harass the opposition, averaging a tad over 3 tackles a game, with a season high of 11 tackles against Footscray in the last game of the year. Biggest thing to work on is his tank, but otherwise he's a good pick for GWS.

You could’ve got him for a pick in the 70s

True. But overreaching has backfired severely in the past, boekhorst comes to mind.

Im not sure that’s an overreaction as much as it was a really poor player evaluation.

In 2015 Adelaide took Doedee in the teens despite no one having any idea who he was because they wanted him and that was their last live selection

Pretty sure people knew who doedee was and had a great combine which obviously pushed him up a tad higher and in the days of no live trading or future picks trading Adelaide obviously couldn’t trade back

Great example. Pick 46 is definitely comparable to pick 18...

Pick 49 North Melbourne select:
Flynn Perez
Bendigo Pioneers
