This pick makes too much sense for Hawthorn and I wasn’t expecting him to be available here. With Gunston being closer to the end than the beginning, the Patton experiment seemingly failed and McEvoy on his last legs. Thilthorpe provides an option to fill either Ruck or Key Forward posts which are both needs.

Okay, now that's out of the way, North Melbourne select Zach Reid and Tanner Bruhn to join the club. Red Black and Blue you are up

Pick 9: Zach Reid (Key Defender/Forward, 202 cm/83 kg, Gippsland Power).

Reid is someone I was always contemplating for North. There's a serious lack of young key defensive talent at the club and Reid will likely start in the VFL just due to the fact he hasn't had a lot of exposed form this year and will have quite a few kinks to work out of his game early.

Pick 10: Tanner Bruhn (Balanced Midfielder, 183 cm/74 kg, Geelong Falcons).

North lack a lot of class through the middle and that's what Bruhn brings in spades. His kicking is arguably the best of this draft class and he wins the ball inside and out. Look for him to play early next year regardless of who picks him up as I think he'll slot in seamlessly.
