Cool, I'll get Fev and Hayes then, eh?

Of course not, because they didn't perform well (at all). Riewoldt was alright, but nobody would argue his performance was as good as Franklin, Cloke and Kennedy.

Kennedy? I'd argue that Riewoldt was atleast as good, if not better than Kennedy. People just expect a lot more more from Riewoldt because he is currently a better footballer.

Franklin and Cloke were both far supperior than both Riewoldt and Kennedy but neither of them are FF's as such.

Riewoldt on one leg performed as good ad Kennedy. This is the difference between picking a player like FEV.

Who cares? You seem to. :thumbsu:;)

Agree to disagree. I saw Buddy play live 3 times this year and he hardly spent any time at FF what so ever.

One thing we do agree on is that Cloke and Franklin were both comfortably better than Riewoldt this season. No qualms there.

Just looking at the Riewoldt vs Kennedy comparison.

Kennedy played 23 games, kicked 59 goals and averaged 11.7 possesions a game. He had that bag of 10 which inflates his figures.

Riewoldt played 22 games, kicked 62 goals and averaged 11.1 possesions. Riewoldt was injured early and took basically no part at all in 2 games, bringing his averages down.

One guy played in a top 4 team, the other in a battling team.

This is before getting into injuries.

Now I have taken Towno78's pick for him, I can answer this without jeopardising his pick.

Barry Hall played 7 less games than Jack in 2011 and kicked only 7 less goals. IMO he was better.
Cheers for that Mojo, I think the PM worked well to keep things moving. Will use this again going forward if I'm not around for my pick.

Yep, BBBBBBH kicked the most number of goals per game this year, equal with Franklin and plenty more than Cloke. Obviously, both Franklin and Cloke provide more than Hall beyond goals kicked, but I'm pretty happy to pick him up as the 6th or 7th key forward selected. :)

"fully fit and on performance of 2011."

Jack played every game, or just about. 90% of players are carrying an injury, so to say "oh but but he was injured" is bollocks.

"Fully fit" is to differentiate between Luke Ball and Lenny Hayes in 2011.

Who cares, really; people won't all vote on the same criteria anyway.
I was of the same opinion as Whomb. If they're on the park 2011, they're to be considered fit and should be judged on those performances. Too subjective otherwise.

That said, I'd be happy with JR as a pick. Whilst he obviously wasn't as good as the previous year, I personally will be weighting his performances with the fact that he was in an ordinary side and clearly taking greater attention from the opposition than most. Which puts him up there as one of the better key forwards for the year, but would personally place Hall in front of him.

Just to clarify, if they weren't on the park in 2011, such as Dempsey, I was of the opinion that they should be judged on performances prior to their injury. So end of 2010 and first few games of 2011? Is that reasonable, or are people going to look at him and say, well he did sweet FA in 2011!?

I'm not having a crack at you, but I always give arguments based on stats the "too long; didn't read" treatment.

I prefer to gauge players on their performances with my own two eyes. It's why I've never done the MVP votes after looking at stats this year.

I think Josh Kennedy was comfortably better than Jack Riewoldt, but that's kinda the idea behind the game; it's all subjective.

Yep, my thoughts exactly.

As I said a page or two back, I assumed the "no injury" stipulation was to account for players that didn't play, like Lenny Hayes or yeah, Dempsey; not to make excuses for players that played through injury.

No probs at all. Yeah Hall was great this year and very accurate in front of goal.

Jroo might have kicked a bunch of goals this season but he had little impact/influence in a lot of the games he played, as evidenced by his finish in the Jack Dyer medal. A lot of goals were junk time trash when the game was over.

I have no doubt in my mind that Kennedy was the better performed player this season.

Also had more assists than Kennedy and more scoring involvements.

I'm guessing they all came in junk time also?

Fair enough Whomb but in regards to FF's I think that goals, goal assists, and goals per game, are hugely important statistics.

The way I see it is that on paper Jroo looks to have had a great season but I personally think the stats are very overwhelming. He definitely had some great games but he failed to consistently have the influence/impact that you want from a FF.

That's just my opinion though, it's all subjective.

Ah, just noticed that the time's listed on the posts is 1 hour different when I'm not logged in compared to when I am logged in... No wonder I've been getting confused.

Boncer had to 5.48 to pick I believe, then MJ had until 7.48 - another 2 hours.

Therefore it's AS9's pick now - correct?

So it's back to Boncer again... Does he get another 6 hours or since his time has already elapsed on his previous pick that we're still waiting on do we just move on?

I think to keep moving seems harsh to boncer, but fair to all.

BTW Damn you AS9, was heavily courting Goldstein for a gig at my club :)
