James Hird sacked as he is caught out! Geoff Scuttleon hired as new coach!

James Hird has been sacked from the Essendon Football Club's coaching staff with a year left on his contract. It was made known that 'Hirdy' was found at 3am this morning at the Bistrow Bar and Casino, gambling $556'000. He is in no fit state to continue coaching and has been down-graded. He will be recieving help to get past this problem.

In better news for the Essendon Football Club they have admitted Geoff Scuttleon as their new Head-Coach. The man has recently coached the Fremantle Sharks and has given up that job to take on the Essendon club.

(In this one, I will NOT be playing. I will be watching the game and making changes and posting and everything. Not playing, actually managing the team.)

Bulldogs run out of steam.
The Western Bulldogs ran out of steam in their clash with the now undefeated Essendon Bombers. The first quarter was absolutely promising for the Bulldogs who looked like they were going to maul the Bombers but the Essendon side took charge and piled on 3 of their own after the Bulldogs found their surge kicking the starting 3 goals. Murphy was hard to shut down, but was shut down convincingly as he only recieved 2 goals to his name. Barry Hall was shut down and made a mockery of as he recieved 2 touches for the day and no goals, not the big man's dream start to the year obviously.

Goals:

Bulldogs: Murphy 2, Hudson 2, M. Boyd 2.

Bombers: Hurley 4, Williams 2, Reimers 2.

Major Ball Winners:

Bulldogs: Boyd 12, Gilbee 11, Wallis 10.

Bombers: Ryder 11, Fletcher 10, Lonergan 9.

Essendon Bombers: 4.3--6.5--10.8--14.9 - 93.

Post-Match Press Conference.

How do you evaluate this win?

Well what is there to evaluate about it? We came out and got trounsed for the first 15 minutes. We finally came out of our shell and then kicked 4 goals in succession to end the first quarter. From there we began to dominate, I was however a little sketchy in the second quarter when the Bulldogs had the first 2 shots on goal, luckily they both missed.

We saw you substitute Gumbleton in the dying minutes of the third quarter. What was your reasoning for this?

We figured our lead was good enough, he was playing a top game and we didn't want to risk him recieving any injury. I assure you later in this year he will be getting subsituted in the second quarter, that game will be agains't the suns. I cannot lie.

When the Bulldogs kicked the first 3 goals of the game what were your first thoughts?

Straight away I said to myself, 'oh here we go again'. We have a real inconsistancy problem, and we always manage to stuff it up at the start, we find our reigns near the start of the second quarter.

The disposal count was 106-131 in the Bulldogs direction. What does this tell you?

It tells me that when we get the hands on the ball we use it properly. Having 23 more disposals and not winning tells me there is something wrong.

Thankyou for your time. Good luck with the Sydney Swans next week.

Cheers.

Coaches Comments Post-Game:

We played well up until the last 5 minutes. From there Sydney ran all over us, we were lucky to get away with the 4 points.

Sydney surge way too late, and lose in blockbuster!

The Sydney swans produced a late boost of energy with 5 minutes to go, kicking 3 straight to put themselves down by a straight kick. With 30 seconds to go Daniel Bradshaw took a mark 47 metres out. The siren went and he could either draw the game or lose it. Unfortunatly for the Swans he missed, an unlucky game for them defiantly.

Sydney: 2.4--2.5--4.6--7.8 - 50.

Essendon Bombers: 1.0--6.2--6.5--8.7 - 55.

Best On Ground: Aaron Welsh.

(Sorry guys skipped the goals. >.<)

Coaches Comments: Once again we let ourselves down in the third quarter. We need to work on that.

Saints Push Forwards and fall short by a millimetre.
The Saint Kilda Football Club must be happy with there efforts after fighting back a 40 point deficit to hit the front late in the third quarter. Early in the fourth they managed to break out to a massive 14 point lead for how late in the game they were. Somehow the Bombers steadied and brought the margin back to take the lead with 2:32 left with the scores previously drawn.

Bombers: Hurley 5, Gumbleton 2, Monfries 2.

Saints: Gram 2, Milne 2, Peake 2.

Post Match Press Conference -

What was your opinions on this match?
I believe we came out hard, we won the first quarter marginally and destroyed in the second, however a 2 goal to 8 third quarter let us down and the fourth was a tussle to get a win.

Do you believe you were outplayed in the third or was it luck?
We were outplayed extremely well, I don't know what happened in the fourth but we kicked back into 5th gear and moved forwards.

You have lost Watson for 1 week through injury to his foot, how will this affect you?
We must replace our Ruck Rover otherwise we are in for some trouble.

Good Luck with Carlton this week!

Coaches Comments:

I am happy with the boys this time, they played 4 quarters of football which set up this 29 point win.

Blues demolished by Bombers who are now flying high.
The Blues have been demolished by a fit Bombers outfit who ran over the top of them ripping them to shreds. It wasn't until the last quarter that the Blues actually managed a decent score.

Major Ball Winners:
