Essendon are considering taking an international Rookie. The young lad is an Ethiopian and from all reports is training the house down. An incredible athlete he has represented Ethiopia in a number of sports at junior level and has come to Australia for a chance at AFL. Sheeds and the coaching staff are in awe of his athletic ability and his skills are surprisingly good.

He was kicking banana goals from the boundary last night, I saw it, and it was quite amazing.

Put him in a wing and just let him run.

In other Essendon news, Justin Blumfield won’t be drafted after medical advice said his knee was stuffed but they will take an experienced hard nut with a late pick.

Official draft should be on line in the next day or so. Dont say i dont give you anything.

Sheeds is also looking at a Bosnian kid and a ruckman from Chernobyl who has 8 legs

surely just PR, and another Sheedy experiment to perpetuate his 'thinking mans coach' persona. No way a 22 year old who only picked up a ball 6 weeks ago can make AFl level. Nice publicity none the less, and I 'm sure it'll help when he goes up for Australian of the year, or some honour like that.

Hasn't been decided yet, personally i rate him above others who are being considered. I reckon they would be better served with a couple of quick youngsters but this is what i have heard.

Story on the Ethiopian has been floating around for a while so not much of a scoop but i saw him with my own eyes and he was very impressive. He litrally jumped over the top of another ruckmen in a ruck contest, amazing stuff. I hope they take him it would be very exciting for AFL Football.

The only draft and trading expert indeed.

The kid might be a natural athlete but physically ethiopians aren't designed to have big frames. He might be impressive but you would surely think he wouldnt get much bigger no matter how much weight training he does. It's just not in the genetic makeup for an ethiopian to have the body necessary of a 195cm AFL player.

I would want to see how he stood up to physical contact before picking him up. If anyone can pull it off then its sheeds but i just think its too big a gamble even for him.

Interesting.

While he seems to have all the athletic attributes that a footballer needs, at 68kgs he'd get crushed by any reasonably solid player.

Imagine Jonathan Brown lining him up?!

Hope he has a red hot crack at it.

You got to be kidding!!! Have you seen how skinny he is, he makes David Bourke look like a world-class body builder. If a guy like Pickett ran through him, the AFL would be shipping him in a body bag back to his poor family in Ethiopia.

He didn't even know what a hip n shoulder was and probably never will if somebody lines him up because he will be dead. LOL Good luck to him but come on this kid doesn't have a chance. You think Essendon would have learnt from the American bloke they had on there list a few years ago
