We were booing the umpires but Pendlebury just happened to be on stage and the presentation happened to be going

It’s like the simpsons when Bart starts hitting air and if you get hit it’s your own fault

Imagine if the umpiring was actually as bad as Essendon fans have deluded themselves into thinking

I've never personally booed any player and don't really like when others do it, but booing a player during the course of a game is a bit different to booing during a medal ceremony. Bombers fans had their chance to voice displeasure at the umpires, which they had done, there was no need to carry on during the ceremony. Claims that it was purely about the umpiring doesn't really stand up in that context.
Claims that they were booing Pendlebury and not the umpiring don't really stand up when using common sense and logic.

5 minutes after one of the worst umpired games you would ever see (whether it favored one side or not, most would agree it was atrocious)

What do you expect? People don't get over things that quick.

How can you say that though? The booing stopped after the umpires left the ground and started again once Pendlebury was awarded the medal lol?
because the fans would have booed no matter who won the medal. They didnt hang around at the ground well after the game just to boo Pendles

Why though? How does that look or sound like anything other than disrespect?
because angry fans who are still fuming over the result really care about how it looks.....

I'm not saying it's right, but that's the reality. They would have booed no matter who won the medal

All these Essendon supporters - look over there, remember when this person was booed that person was booed etc etc. Fine.
Doesn't excuse the Essendon supporters behaviour today.
You either booed or you didn't.
You either condoned it or not.
You either agreed with it or not.

Sorry if it makes you feel uncomfortable - but it is pathetic to bring up previous incidents as some sort of shield. Childish actually.
"Mommy he did it first, he did it too.."
If you didn't boo you have nothing to be ashamed of. Say you didn't like it and move on.
If you booed today, maybe reflect on your actions and direct your disappointment in a more appropriate direction and moment in future.
If you are trying to make excuses you are effectively given tacit approval for what was a pretty distasteful display.

To those making the very long reach that booing at the end of the match and ceremony was "disrespectful to the anzacs", answer this question honestly.

How many people booed at the dawn services? Did you attend? Or did you latch on to the afls version of paying respect to the anzacs and just go to the footy? If so how many boos did you hear towards the anzacs in the pre game ceremony for the anzacs that the afl whipped up? Zero.

Work it out.

I remember the epl used to have the refs do a conference after games (don’t know if they still do), where they would show replays of decisions and the refs would have to explain the reasoning for the decision. Would often get yes I got that wrong which was good. Also good in epl where if you make poor decisions you get dropped down to lower leagues.

Should get stuff like that here.
