I think this thread has just about run it's course.
Media comment by Buckley and McGuire pretty much says it all.
In his post-match press conference, Buckley said he hoped he would’ve done the same thing if it wasn’t his player copping the boos.
“My comment speaks for itself,” he said.
“I hope that I would’ve been strong enough if say an Essendon player had won the medal in the exact same moment, and the Collingwood faithful had responded that way, I hope I would’ve been strong enough to say the same thing. And I think I would’ve. I don’t like it, but that’s just my opinion.
“I don’t think it really warrants further questioning or talking about because it just makes it a greater focal point.”
Collingwood president Eddie McGuire told Fox Footy post-game he didn’t think the booing was targeted at Pendlebury, but instead the umpiring.
“The Essendon fans are sensational. Let’s assume it was pantomime,” he said.
“But we have to get past booing. Let’s get it out of the game. The Bombers fans were so pent up they would have booed anything. But let’s get it out of the game.”
