Collingwood get kissed on the dick by the umpires today and Essendon booed the umpires all the way off the ground. Then Collingwood fans decided to bring back that moronic chant as the boos were dying down. Everyone managed to boo over the top of the chant. Collingwood fans are just trying hard to misdirect the rage away from the umpiring.

Nothing funnier than the most feral supporter base in the league trying to play high and mighty. LOL! This is the club that has racially villified Nicky Winmar, Michael Long and Adam Goodes. This is the club that has booed Hird and Watson receiving this medal. This is the club that has booed Luke Shuey winning Norm Smith.

Sit down and shut up.
Few things:
> Collingwood weren't kissed on the dick. They were very fortunate to win given how many goals Essendon kicked as a direct result of shady umpiring decisions. Better team won.
> Collingwood fans started their glorious chant because they won the game and wanted to counter the salty booing by the Essendon faithful
> Hird and Watson were rightfully booed as drug cheats. It stuns me that you'd even try to support them in your post.
> Shuey wasn't booed. Did Essendon supporters pluck this out of their ass in the last six hours? It's false.

Big lulz at the hystericalness over fans booing.

A noise generated by thousands for hundreds of years in sports all over the world.

Why are we people PC'ing this?

As far as Pendlebury is concerned....the Essendon fans were gonna do it regardless of who was at the microphone. Don't get too carried away over things that aren't that important and that you can't control.
Maybe if the fans woo'd instead it'd be a more uplifting vibe. Woo pendles woo!

Non that play Essendon
The real question is why is it acceptable that Essendon fans’ behaviour change so drastically so as to interrupt the speech of the Anzac Day winner?

It’s not an ordinary game hence the medal and the acceptance speech afterwards.

Even though Essendon lost it could have been an Essendon player as the medallist (Saad, Shiel or even Daniher were close). Would Essendon fans’ behaviour have still been so dirty as to boo during Shiel’s acceptance speech simply because their side had lost the game?

I had left by that stage but considering the occasion its disappointing behavior but the mood was ugly at the end so I'm not surprised it boiled over.

To all the Essendon nuffies who suggest otherwise, Luke Shuey was not booed after the grand final last year. I would know because I was there, and most Magpies supporters had left already. Laughable that this has even been suggested, as it's the first anybody had heard of it until yesterday. Telling porkies.

West Coast supporters who were present have recorded on numerous occasions how respectful Collingwood supporters were in defeat.

The biggest sport in many large European countries is still trying to curb overt ‘over the fence’ racism on a regular basis. Not ‘perceived as racism’ Adam Goodes stuff - actual unchecked and disgusting abuse (not even within the confides of Instagram!) - but we over here stressing about boos....

Buckley was pretty classy how he handled it and in his postmatch comments:

In his post-match press conference, Buckley said he hoped he would’ve done the same thing if it wasn’t his player copping the boos.

“My comment speaks for itself,” he said.
“I hope that I would’ve been strong enough if say an Essendon player had won the medal in the exact same moment, and the Collingwood faithful had responded that way, I hope I would’ve been strong enough to say the same thing. And I think I would’ve. I don’t like it, but that’s just my opinion.
“I don’t think it really warrants further questioning or talking about because it just makes it a greater focal point.”

Well said.
He may have stuffed it for Pendles. Let’s hope not.

Essendon supporters who call Collingwood supporters the most feral fans in the league need to look at the own backyard. Worst crowd behaviour I have ever seen. The better team won move on. Still disgraceful that you booed a champion on Australia’s most important day. No Collingwood fan and I have been to every Anzac Day game since 1997 has booed an Essendon player when they won the Anzac Day medal!! You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Bucks was 100% on the money with his comments. Good on the magpie army starting the Collingwood chant to drawn out the boos from the Essendon Moran’s

idiots like Whately,Robbo,Caro etc will say how Essendons fans should be ashamed and it's not a good look of the game will have field day.

PC society can get fckd
I actually see it as a positive. The paying public has precious little say in how their game is run, and they seem to have found the AFL's Achilles heel. The AFL would do well to recognise it as a symptom of a serious problem rather than put it down to "bad people". We've seen with Goodes that they'll boo for booing's sake if they sense the AFL is aggrieved. It is the public reclaiming power.

The way players are being allowed to try to waltz through tackles and packs while holding onto the ball for an eternity after being collared, and sometimes blatantly dropping it, is so fundamentally wrong that it's offensive. Fix it, AFL.

You don't have to like the umpiring but to boo like they did is a disgrace! Good on you Bucks.

Call out your supporters Xavier- make a statement (never going to happen though)

They were "robbed" of free kicks on the half back line and were "gifted" 2 goals

For all the talk about the umps, I haven seen anyone bring up Stringer doing just that in the last quarter, on one hand its great to see a player trying to break free but technically its holding the ball or often we see incorrect disposal as players just throw the ball.

The booing by Bombers fans during the Anzac Day Medal presentation to Scott Pendlebury has been declared as “Essendon’s shame” by AFL 360’s Mark Robinson.

And his co-host Gerard Whateley believes the fans that booed during the ceremony “didn’t live the national character that we believe is part of Anzac”.

Which embodies the point, really. The AFL has been inflicting its identity politics on its paying customers for years, and these blokes think they can dictate a response by shaming them. The booing was purely a reflection of the standard of the umpiring and had nothing to do with the Anzacs. It could've happened after any big game.

Symbolic of today's Australia - addressing the symptom rather than treating the problem.
