Not everyone was a racist and domestic violence rates were miles lower than what they are now. Not everyone smoked (Although yes many more did than today) and upper class still look down on lower class.

Watch the news tonight and tell me we have good standards in todays society.
Come on, it's pretty obvious why this is the case and it's not because domestic violence occurred less back then.

this is rapidly becoming an EPIC dummy spit! Its like winning twice!
its 4 points lol, you deserved the win. We shouldn't have let you get to a 33 point lead.

All i'm doing is pointing out that Collingwoods fan base are far from perfect who have booed multiple people before and will do so in the future. Its pathetic that you guys are attempting to take some type of moral high ground without addressing your own issues.

Happy for you to link me Buckley calling out his own supporter base when they boo others. Ill wait.

I can take or leave booing, everyone to their own.

But will the media not paint Bucks as on the high ground, he had the chance to call out his own fans 2 weeks ago and didn't take the opportunity.
last I heard Buckley wasnt claiming any high ground in fact doesnt want to give the issue and the morons any more oxygen

Bloke is the biggest hypocrite faux nice guy going round. Pie fans are convinced he turned into a good bloke overnight. There’s a reason why he’s nicknamed FIGJAM.

doesn't want to give it any oxygen but calls it out on Live TV?

I don't have an issue with it as long as he does it to his own mob as well. For him to call us out (rightly so by the way) yet not call out his own supporter base when they do the exact same thing is just pathetic. Buckley didn't say shit 2 weeks ago when dom sheed was booed.

if you cant hear the boo's at the end of this video i cant help you...............9:30
I was at the game and did not hear 1 Collingwood supporter boo Shuey.

Also, quotes from Eagles supporters in another thread:

Most were Eagles supporters screaming 'Shooooeeeeee' similar to how Hawks supporters scream "Bruuuueeee" when Bruest is lining up for goal.
Bullshit

Pies supporters were brilliant post match

LOL bullshit. Plenty of eagles on here took offence too it...and i was at the game and i heard it.

Regardless of Shuey what about Dom Sheed in round 3?. Where was Buckley white knighting in his presser saying booing was out of line?

Its a really vexed and complicated situation. Lyon and Watson you could tell were stressed about this. Both defiant in their stance against booing champion players, ESPECIALLY during a ceremony. Questions will be asked if they will be as strong when a player gets booed this weekend.

Some points to consider
1) are there rules/stipulations to follow when booing?
2) in this case, collingwood supporters (and non collingwood supporters alike) are decrying the booing. What happens when their own fans boo opponents? Or when a player leaves the club as travis Cloke did, and was jeered by collingwood supporters in his first game against them.
3) Are excuses used simply a cover up for other reasons when voicing displeasure? Examples
(a) essendon fans were booing umpires
(b) fans booed goodes because he is telling us what to do
(c) booed ablett because he staged for free kicks

What I posted earlier on booing Sheed. Basically - big deal. Big difference between booing a player in-game who kicked a winning goal compared to booing a player receiving a medal.

Ive seen this comparison so many times and quite frankly its just rubbish.

Sheed will always be the villain in the eyes of Collingwood supporters. The player who kicked the winning goal against us. Of course they're going to boo him first game since then. Big deal what a terrible problem to have. I wish one of our players was being booed by opposition fans for kicking a winning GF goal.

Its not malicious or sinister booing. They're not being disrespectful by booing him. Its part of the theatre from a historic moment in GF history.
Stop clutching at straws.

I think most level headed supporters would recognise most Essendon supporters were not booing Pendlebury directly and were showing their distaste for the result and the umpiring.

But 5 minutes after the siren when a player is trying to speak and thank the whole crowd for contributing to a great game is pretty poor.

Give up while you’re behind. Shuey wasn’t booed at the norm smith presentation and you’ve been proven to be a liar.

Fans boo players from time to time, it’s part of the game when it’s during the game.

But at a medal presentation, that’s beyond the pale. Especially at a ball player who had done nothing wrong except be best on ground.

I think Buckleys comments were entirely appropriate and timely. He has the right to express his view even as a current coach of the team.
Nip it in the bud.
If these clowns boo during the presentations next year when we win after they have been placed on notice then they will be exposed for being the disrespectful sooks they are.

What about current players?
Right sentiment and sportsmanship is not limited to past players just because they are impartial.
The Essendon players were disappointed. But they displayed sportsmanship - shake hands after the game, stood there listening to Pendlebury.
Didn't see them booing.
It would also be nice if there was some sportsmanship and respect displayed by supporters after the game too.
Yell, scream and carry on about the play whilst the game is being played. Like the players - play hard during the game.
But at the end show some respect.
Maybe he should do it when collingwood fans boo other players. The booing of ablett in round 1 against the pies was disgusting. Where was buckley then? Saying sweet f** all.

As a Collingwood supporter I think we should think about the behaviour of our fans at the end of the 2010 GF parade when Riewoldt went to address the fans. We bring most of this on ourselves.

Lol at the vids of Tippi. Drops to the ground every time there is an impending tackle, pies players react well and barely brush their hands through his hair trying to avoid getting him high after the sudden drop/duck. Well done by the umpires to let those go, the game doesn't need anymore Selwoods. He's a great player, hope he decides to play more honestly from now on.

C'mon Timmy if the shoe was on the other foot and we got reamed like Essendon did by the men in lime we'd be rioting not just booing. Umpires and the AFL must be wrapt with the booing as it has taken away from what at times was emabarrassing umpiring.

first of all, they weren't booing pendlebury. They were booing shitful umpires and the emotion carried through to the medal presentation. I agree it was out of line.

But you blokes trying to take a high ground though is beyond hilarious. Yes you did boo Shuey. Yes you did boo Dom Sheed & Gary Ablett. You also booed Nick Reiwodlt during the Grand Final Parade.Yes you will boo someone in the future.

That’s no reason to boo Pendlebury!
!
Essendon got three first half goals from dodgy umpiring decisions in the first half.

And then in the last quarter Essendon missed out on a few frees in the back pocket. It’s not as if you were in scoring range for any of them.

You dominated for theee quarters but weren’t good enough to hit the front for even a minute of the game.
