Fair enough getting upset about booing at a medal presentation but where has this panicky attitude to booing come from? Every club does it and as long as it isn't racially/sexually based then what you gonna do. It's part of the theater of sports. The media pumps up the rivalry/tribalism/emotion of sports to the extreme (even going so far as to liken a game played on ANZAC day to a war) and then gets upset when spectators act on these emotions (without hurting anyone).

Collingwood were booing Gaff pretty heavily only a couple of games ago and Bucks didn't say a word. Bit rich to then hear him complaining about 'booing a champion.'

That’s no reason to boo Pendlebury!
!
Essendon got three first half goals from dodgy umpiring decisions in the first half.

And then in the last quarter Essendon missed out on a few frees in the back pocket. It’s not as if you were in scoring range for any of them.

You dominated for theee quarters but weren’t good enough to hit the front for even a minute of the game.
Timmy we got the best of it and it wasn't even close. Moore getting tackled on the wing and missing the ball was so blatant it was comical. Yes the in the back free they got was not there but what about Hooker outmarking Mason Cox?

first of all, they weren't booing pendlebury. They were booing shitful umpires and the emotion carried through to the medal presentation. I agree it was out of line.

.
Agree that the Bombers fans couldn’t control themselves.

They might say they didn’t mean to boo Pendlebury or might feel guilty about it now but that’s exacty what they did. The volume was audibly louder when his name was announced and when he spoke....thanking the crowd. The umpires had left the ground by then.

You can’t rewrite history. Just own it.

I have no issues saying they should have stopped when the umps left the field. They deserved every single boo they got, pendles didn't and its a shame he was caught up in it.

As long as Buckley calls out Collingwood supporters the next time they boo someone then no issues here. He has had several chances this season alone and hasn't said shit.

The booing was audibly louder once Pendlebury was announced as the medal winner. And again while he was speaking.

They were booing Pendlebury.

Bombers fans drinking the Kool Aid and rewriting history once again.
numerous Essendon fans who were at the game have called in to SEN this morning to say they, and those around them, were booing the umpiring. Pendles just happened to step up and address Essendon fans.

And they are talking rubbish.

The umpires had left several minutes beforehand. The Essendon supporters who booed should have left also

Did they explain why the booing got louder when Pendleburys name was announced or when he spoke? Did they suddenly get angrier at the umpires who were already in their change rooms?

which is another point. Essendon fans remained at the game to voice their disgust at the umpiring and the result. They didnt hang around to boo the medalist just in case it was Pendles. To suggest as much is complete idiocy

So it was an accident?

Pretty sure I heard those excuses from Hird and Thompson a few years back.

Yes that was poor, Pies fans own it. Also a long time ago. hardly doing it all the time.....
point is a proportion of supporters from every club act on emotion in the heat of the moment. Pie fans calling out bomber fans as if they are somehow worse is the height of hypocrisy

To suggest this is not something wrong with hanging around to boo the anzac ceremony because you (incorrectly) believed you got robbed just highlights the depth of depraved bitterness that is the Essendon supporters pathology
