So it was an accident?

Pretty sure I heard those excuses from Hird and Thompson a few years back.
not an accident, it was an opportunity. If you watch Pendles speech he addresses the Essendon crowd, and they reply with how they felt. I feel sorry for Pendles as he didnt deserve the response, but it wasnt meant for him

To suggest this is not something wrong with hanging around to boo the anzac ceremony because you (incorrectly) believed you got robbed just highlights the depth of depraved bitterness that is the Essendon supporters pathology
They got robbed cmon shoe on the other foot and the stadium would have been leveled.

"He started it, mum!"
Haha, are you serious?

This isn't any whataboutery. I was perfectly OK with the Collingwood chant....I would have been embarrassed if we had lost and large quantities of COllingwood supporters had hung around and booed through the ceremony because of the two goals Essendon were gifted

I dont think we got robbed but I do believe Essendon copped some very poor umpiring. Personally I wouldnt have booed but many fans from every club would have

You got some poor non-decisions that had no bearing on the scoreboard. You got two goals from howlers

I don't believe other clubs would have hung around a booed like that. There is some deep group pathology among Essendon supporters that is probably rooted in not winning a final for 15 years and too many of them never owning the fact they cheated and disgraced the game

Is there no end to the Pies moral highground. This is laughable from a club support base involved in many shameful acts through the years. Not least of all the Eddie's gaffes and Nicky Winmar incident. Bet some here on their high horses were involved that day.....hey that's ok we are Collingwood.

I've seen worse umpiring displays than yesterday, sure there were some bad calls but they went both ways and didn't really influence the result.

Seemed like Essendon supporters were more just booing because they lost and the umpires and Pendlebury were easy targets to vent their frustrations.

I've booed opposition players and umpires. And everytime I did, as an adult, I felt somewhat stupid. It's such an infantile thing.

Having said that, Robbo just said on AFL360 that he's "lost faith in humanity" because Ablett and Pendlebury were booed. Seriously. Last week in Sri Lanka, a group of people blew 300 innocent people and themselves to smithereens. And he lost faith in humanity because a couple of footballers got booed.

Some perspective please.
Robbo compared Hird getting the coaching job at Essendon again to planes flying into the twin towers on 9/11, perspective isn't really his strong suit.

collingwood are as good as anyone giving shit to opposition supporters. Booing, Racist remarks etc

As soon as one of their mob is booed then the world ends.

actually pathetic.
The issue might be that players were booed rather than the officiators. Misdirected angst on a special day on the AFL calendar. Very disrespectful.

The only choice is for the AFL to give the ANZAC match to Hawthorn

The two blatant head High tackles not paid on MTW would of both resulted in a shot for goal so it could of had a major impact on the scoreboard.

The umpiring was a disgrace both ways.

The last tackle was a chicken wing, reiwoldt got fined for it 14 hours earlier. It was a free to Stephenson, the Brown in the back all week long was there. Were they booing when the umpires gifted bullshit frees and easy goals to geulfie in the 2nd and Baguley in the last. Essendon supporters ****en campaigners there are booing for 4 points. The Pies got royally reamed in a GF just 6 months ago, i was there, just dissapointment, and when it was all done and dusted, we were all happy to be witness to a classic. What Bucks said was the ultimate dagger to heart of all people who find it their right to disrespect society's morals.

I love how so many Collingwood supporters are saying "yeah umpiring was bad today, but you know... both ways!"

No, it wasn't both ways. Essendon in Bags got a cheap one and maybe another or two. Essendon were reamed by the umpires to the final siren. The game was dictated and decided by the umpire today. I've been going to the footy for 30 years and I have never seen a more one eyed game than I did today.

Something needs to be done and soon. We have neutrals who hate Essendon posting about what a farce it was. People look forward to this game for months, all year in fact... and then for the umpires to play such a part in it was disgusting.

So people who had watched them team get screwed in to a 4 point loss minutes earlier booed Pendles. Get over it. No Essendon fan has a problem with Pendles, they were just still so damn salty for the loss and display they saw from the umpires. Not sure who was worse today, the umpires or Shiel.
In 30 years you never seen worse, what are you Ray Charles. You got 2 gifted goals in Geulife and Baguley. The dons played good the pies were better.

Ask the neutrals of 16 other clubs. Your blokes were kissed on the **** by a fairy today.

numerous Essendon fans who were at the game have called in to SEN this morning to say they, and those around them, were booing the umpiring. Pendles just happened to step up and address Essendon fans.

i suggest you watch the replay...the game ends, signifianct booing occurs...umpires depart, there are at least 3 or 4 more minutes when the boos completely die down, and even cease......then pendlebury is announced as the winner and the boos start again....there is absolutely no way you can argue they were not booing pendles....of course no one wants to admit that, so to say they were booing the umps is the natural defence...but no-one is buying that except Ess fans....
