Why is that? If anything id have thought the opposite with the returning players running out of condition etc
I think the rational is exactly the opposite. Will be fully conditioned room run matches out by then. Along with having a better understanding of Whoosha's game and chem with team mates

This thread is entertaining. Can anybody deny that Essendon can win 6 out of these games?

Brisbane (home), Carlton, Collingwood, Fremantle (home), Gold Coast (away), North Melbourne, St. Kilda, Sydney (away), Western Bulldogs (Only an outside chance but a chance IMO)

If they could play good footy outside of Etihad they'd be a chance.

Melbourne or Collingwood will make it over them, maybe both, but I think Dees will be there
3-2 record at the MCG.

Has BF always been so reactionary

Probably but I don't think this thread is reactionary. That's 3 sides that are all strongly in the finals mix that they've torched now. Geelong, WCE and Port. They've beaten Collingwood who are also battling for a bottom of the 8 position and ran both GWS and Richmond close most of the way.

Their form is strong. That Carlton loss may or may not hurt them.

For me the only things is, can they run out this season strongly?

Fair enough. It seems that Etihad suits your style better.
When it's wet, yes. However the space of the MCG suits the likes of McKenna, McGrath, Fantasia, Walla etc.

You have to admit that wasn't the same team that played Richmond.

Without being too serious...

I reckon these days your form depends less on your own teams ability and more on the particular match up on any given week and how your opponent allows you to play.

Traditionally tigers have matched up pretty well on us, and dimma out coached our style.

We probably beat Melbourne if jd converts 8 of his behinds that day, and the Carlton loss is all in the head.

These three lossess were against sides we have history of losing to out of turn .

Take them out and our form is pretty good actually

Would people stop with this shit.

The Tigers were in 'crisis' after 3 close losses now they are top 4 'locks'

Adelaide was the best team in the league then lost 2 games an everyone was saying their midfield lacks depth

StKilda were a top 4 chance then lost a couple in a row now people say Richo is under performing.

Buckley was a dead man walking now they could be above us on the ladder on Monday night.

Melbourne were set to explode then lost a couple and we're underperforming

Ross Lyon was cooked then Freo won a handful in a row and they were finals contenders now they suck again.

Port were contenders now people are talking about how they can't beat top 8 teams.

Just shut the **** up and let the season breath. Essendon could lose 4 in a row or be top 4 in a month. Who knows
Anyone that thought St Kilda were a top 4 chance is an idiot.

They're a good shot at finals and they can play some sublime footy as shown last night. Sydney next week at the SCG will be a good test and the Swans are still a very capable side on their day.

Twice this year the Bombers have won 2 games in a row so the challenge for them to make finals is to be able to start winning more than two matches in a row. Developing this consistency is the next step for the Bombers, and if they can do that they will probably play finals and when they start to get this consistency, I reckon they could be on their way to becoming a potential top 4 side or at the very least a sustained period in the top 8 in the next few years.

There's quite a lot to like about this Essendon side under Worsfold. Their forward line is a big strength with a very good key forward in Daniher, Hooker in a supporting role and then their dangerous fleet of smalls including Fantasia, AMT and Green. That's going to be one dangerous forward line in the next few seasons and it already is now.

Essendon's foot speed and ball movement (especially off HB) can be very dangerous as well. From yesterday AMT, Colyer, Zaharakis, Green, Fantasia, McKenna and McGrath are the ones who catch my eye with their speed.

Another thing that excites me about Essendon is that they have a nucleus of some very good players who have the potential to be elite. Daniher and Z Merrett come straight to mind in terms of the younger players and Hurley is probably at peak age now and is a very good player and should still be in the next few years. The players who I think will probably be very good include Fantasia and AMT who are blessed with a lot of talent and should be major threats in the forward half for years to come and then there's those like McGrath and Parish who are in the very early stages of their careers but have shown some really good signs.

I'll be excited to see the development of three of Essendon's hybrid talls drafted in 2014-15 in Langford, Laverde and Francis. Laverde has been unlucky with injuries and has had a pretty serious ankle injury in the pre-season which meant he has been unsighted this year but he has a lot of talent and could play anywhere on the ground and be a real x-factor for Essendon. Langford who played early on this year is now developing in the VFL as a big bodied midfielder with some pretty impressive games in there and then there's Francis who like Langford and Laverde all have the potential to play anywhere but has played the majority of his time up forward from what I've seen and he is in the process of developing his tank which should make him a more dynamic player soon.

There are other younger players in Begley (impressed me in the game against GC as a dynamic forward in the pre-season) and Ridley (hybrid defender who just came off a back injury) who Essendon hopes to be part of their long-term future and with their talent I think they will. A lot of these younger players I've named will be the ones who shape Essendon's future and how good they could possibly be.

I personally think there is a lot of talent at Essendon and when some of these players start to get more exposure at AFL level and show glimpses, Essendon will start to get more recognition for their talent their younger players possess.

This years trade period will be interesting and Essendon have been linked to big names such as JJ and Martin so they are really on the hunt for some very good players and they could be busy this trade period.

I am really looking forward to seeing what is in store for Essendon for the rest of this year and whether they can play finals but also the evolution of their side in the next few years which looks quite promising.

Too many big heads at the club after a good win, both within the club & supporter base. Happened for the last decade now.

Last night was exceptional and a great result. But the very typical Essendon thing to do now will be to go to Sydney after the 'bye' and put in a mediocre & underwhelming performance.

Under no circumstances can they be trusted to perform consistently. More so than most other teams, our best is sensational but anything less and it's game over.

Need to chalk up more than the 'one good win per month' before I'm sold on any finals prospects.
