Essendon - finals bound 2017

Too many big heads at the club after a good win, both within the club & supporter base. Happened for the last decade now.

Last night was exceptional and a great result. But the very typical Essendon thing to do now will be to go to Sydney after the 'bye' and put in a mediocre & underwhelming performance.

Under no circumstances can they be trusted to perform consistently. More so than most other teams, our best is sensational but anything less and it's game over.

meh just enjoy the win mate.

Need to chalk up more than the 'one good win per month' before I'm sold on any finals prospects.

It seems you were 130 points off in your prediction.

The remaining draw:

Sydney away - 50/50
Brisbane home - win
Collingwood away - 50/50
St. Kilda away - on form a win
North Melbourne home - 50/50
Bulldogs away - 50/50
Carlton home - we seem to win home games at the MCG - win
Adelaide home - 50/50
Gold Coast away - 50/50
Fremantle home - 50/50?

We probably need to win 6 of the remaining games to make it.

pazza, you're better than this.

Don't stoop to the 12 year old level and try and predict games ten weeks in advance. It's hard enough this year given the evenness of the competition to get it right one week in advance. Destined for disaster once the long range forecasts start coming out.

All those games will present major challenges. One week at a time.

Haven't learned from history yet?

You'll no doubt be overwhelming favourites for that match. You should know what that entails. Carlton/Essendon games aren't always set in stone. To call it a "win" just means you haven't learned from history.

Yep..one week at a time and just happy our club is back to normal and we have a good coach that everyone is happy about.

And we have Andy McGrath running around chopping up. Life is good. This week.

I think we blues/dons fans agree our games against each other are the most anticipated clashes every season. Cause we hate each other's guts and it's fun to get that win.

But it's never a predictable outcome for either clubs. And it's been the case for over 30 years. :)

Agree although I can't remember the last time Carlton beat us twice in a home and away season.

lol

When people on BigFooty predict results it doesn't actually affect results.

Or when you bold your posts.

Essendon seemed for a while to be one of a large bunch of unpredictable teams - a big win one week, and spanked the next.

However, the last five rounds have been interesting. Essendon has played five teams that are likely to play finals, for three wins (two big wins) and two dignified losses. This makes their current formline one of the best in the league. If they can maintain present form levels, they'll play finals and may go deep.

**** who knows.......i'm just enjoying how basically all but BL (but they did FRE today) and CAR can actually get up and possibly beat anyone on their day. the AFL has NEVER been like this. EVER!
not in the habit of bumping my own posts, but CAR go ahead and defeat western suburbs / canberra. it's a great season!!

You just lost to brisbane in Melbourne. Nothing is 50/50 anymore. I can't believe out of all these games you lock in Carlton as a win after 1 losing to us last time and 2 you lost to brisbane In Melb. Lol.

What do you mean? Their supporters keep telling us they have one of the most dynamic and exciting young lists in the comp
Unfortunately no mids.

Thus far, they've been able to mask this by generating attack from the half back line via the Irish bloke and McGrath - which has sort of slipped through everyone's guard.

If they get shutdown off half-back, it will hard for Essendon.

Its funny

Imagine we had of actually brought in a gun inside/outside midfielder for what he was worth. You know, not overpaying for the talent he is evaluated he has. And then, you know, managing him properly, only doing what ir right for the player, not trying to appease the fans and thus far ruining said player further.

We may have been far better off than we currently are

Instead, we are a mid short and kid in question spends more time off the field than a back up footy at a local footy match
