I think 28 people are kidding themselves if they think we're going to make the finals next year.

People get unrealistic expectations about the club and when they don't reach the heights that they expected, they come on here and have a bitch about it, about how half the side is too old, the coach is crap and we've got no kids.

It's good to be positive, but I think this poll would be vastly different from a poll of the public, and probably the true figure of expectation will lie somewhere in the middle.

It's all about timing and I only want to see Essendon make it, if they look convincing (and dont quote me if we finish 8th next season and I'm happy )

I don't think that we're deluding ourselves.

I think that with a better injury run, and with improvement from the kids, like they've shown this year, we'll be a lot more competitive.

We lost games early in the year which we probably shouldn't have, like against Port. Next year, when we're more adjusted to the gameplan, we should be off to a better start than 2-9.

Meh, who cares? I think we are good enough to make finals. You think we are good enough. Either we will be correct or they will be, but the thing that matters is that we all want to make finals

I think the Bombers are going to struggle for quite awhile with Knights as coach. While he has had a few decent in 2008, for the most part he looks out of his depth at AFL level. Considering the fact that he never did have success at lower levels i.e. SANFL and VFL, I can't see the Bombers seriously challenging while Knights is coach.

Didn't Neil Craig have a horrible record at Norwood?

Also, when Knights coached Bendigo he had one of the worst VFL lists that was highly dependant on Essendon listed players, he managed to take them to the finals twice, and they had made the finals prior to that..

Finals 2011, Top 4 2012.

RIG - pretty realistic I should think.

I would think that 2009 is very unrealistic at this point.

I would however hold a genuine belief that we could make finals by 2010.

adelaide should finish 5th - 8th next year...... and will get knocked out first week.

I agree with all but North. I refuse to bet against them again.

Crows have been too old for 2-3 years yet they're perennial premiership contenders according to the media!

Swans looked terrible after half-time, lack of fitness, aging legs etc.

Saints are simply pathetic. Poor coach, very few good players... those very few got them to the finals.

None of them will make top four but North will still easily make finals

Port, Carlton, Richmond, Freo and WC will likely improve quite a bit though.

I think we can make the 8 but we need some luck because we're well short of Geelong and Hawthorn who are the standouts.

Western Bulldogs

Kangaroos
Richmond
Essendon

Next year some of our young blokes like Ryder,Reimers,Monfries,Houli, will start to mature and some other teams like Sydney, Saints, Crows will start to slip out of the 8 and will give us that opertunity to get in the 8, thats offcourse if the injury toll isnt like Vietnam again
