Just one week into the home and away season, Christian has already issued his first staging charge, offering Collingwood's Brayden Maynard a $1000 sanction for an early plea following an incident during the fourth quarter of the Magpies' loss to the Hawks.
"It was our view in this particular case that Brayden excessively exaggerated contact after being pushed by Tom Mitchell and the guidelines are very clear around staging; it can include excessive exaggeration that may affect an umpire's decision-making," Christian said.

I'm impressed the AFL are actually continuing to do something about it. Hopefully it continues throughout the season and we will see a cleaner game without the exaggerate and made up contact. Shame it won't work for the head high frees but you can't have everything.
