I actually kinda get what you're saying now. Last year we took it one teaspoon at a time so the impact of what the Dogs did was in phases. This year, looking back at last, when you try and conceive the idea of Essendon winning the Premiership from here, it makes you think back to last year and wonder how the Dogs actually managed to do it.
exactly mate. Bingo.

That Crows game was a super bad game for the Bombers and is in the back of my mind come finals time. That said, like last year you just have to play 4 awesome games of footy to win it so who knows
I would be confident of winning all 4 games if Hurley,Fantasia,Hooker weren't injured.

Also will need to play like we did against Port,Saints,Eagles to have any chance.

Agree about winning the flag but I'm loving that no one is giving Essendon a chance to beat Sydney will go in as heavy under dogs it's when the team plays it's best imo.
In fairness majority of Adelaide & Geelong fans would love you to win which would be the only thing these two clubs will ever agree on

The AFL would also love you to win to score another 90000+ against us or Richmond next week.

97k I heard for Tigers vs Cats can easily see it push to 100k+ Tigers vs Essendon.

So much like the dogs of last year. Looking back it's crazy that they won it.

Away to Perth
Face the reigning 3 time champs and team that played in 4 straight GF's
Away to GWS who had 2 weeks rest
Beat the Ladder topping Swans.

When you see what Essendon are faced with this season, and see that the dogs were in the same place yet won, what they did is beyond impossible. Imagine if Essendon were to do it. It looks impossible, and I don't think they will.

How the **** did the dogs win it last year. Because Essendon are in the doggies position this year. And I give them no chance.

That's what everyone says this year about the dons. What I'm saying is, Holy ****en shit Doggies. I am in even more awe now, than what I was last year.
They believed they could win it in 2015, and then got beaten by the Crows with allegations of inside information give to the Crows, hushed up by th this burnt them
True, considering we are about to play in a final and your lot are in Bali, we most definitely are not on par.
Our lot are still the current premiers, your lot is still the wooden spooners. Don't kid yourself, you fell into 8th because you had the easiest of fixtures courtesy of your 18 spot finish last year. Much better teams didn't make the finals.

Who would they be?

And you hang onto those claims, you wont be able to say them in a month.

Melbourne for one. Yeah another month we won't be saying it, but either will you. All it will mean for Essendon is your draw will be harder next year and your draft pick won't be as low, enjoy.

Yep Melbourne is the one, but thats their fault and even if they did make it, it would have been at the Eagles expense, not Essendon's.

I have finals to enjoy first, but thanks for the sentiment.

i am so glad you will enjoy being an also ran, but then that's all Essendon has done for nearly two decades isn't it.

It basically comes down to MCC. Every other seat in the house is sold for Geelong vs Cats and would be the same for Geelong/Richmond vs Essendon. So would be down to how many show up from the MCC.

Melbourne are not better than Essendon. Nope. West Coast? Nope. All the teams further above are a yes.... although on our day if another team lets Essendon loose and doesn't play tight then maybe maybe.

hahahahahahahahaha you won a flag and now look at it? When was your one before it? I don't think you're in a position to be poking at other clubs just yet.

As for the 2017 finals series, why don't we wait till it starts before we define who the also rans are? I mean, in all honesty, my mob are on the same starting block that your mob used last year!

Nearly beat Sydney (should have), beat Geelong, flogged West Coast and Port and pushed Richmond and GWS

Na, you're right. We're trash
these 2 posts highlight our issues. Though i will concede, when we beat Geelong, Port and West Coast (and St Kilda), they were all pretty poor and we took our chances.
7th-12th was a good range estimate for us pre-season.
That we landed at the top of that range due to winning some unexpected games hides the fact we lost some we shouldn't have.

the soft draw offset the integration we had to make, merging 1/3 of our 2015 squad with 1/3 of our new 2016 squad for the first time, all under new coaches and game plans.
2018 should be a better indicator of how we're travelling towards a flag.

2016 saw leceister win the premier league, cronulla win their first ever nrl title, a young singaporean lad beat phelps to olympic gold, an englishman (one of only two in history) won the us masters, the chicago cubs won their first title in over 100 years, and five little countries won their first ever olympic golds. Oh yeah, the worst performed club in vfl/afl history somehow rose off the canvas to win from outside the top four. Freak year.
Essendon no hope!
