Essendon NAB cup fixture change

To be honest i would rather watch the Dons play at Darwin.
Gold Coasters will get their 3 or 4 matches a year seeing the Roos and Brisbane etc.
Where as Darwin get a game seeing the Roos and Dogs? huh some treat that is! the majority of Football fans in Darwin support Essendon and we pass up on that so we can play on the Gold Coast?
I really don't think it's good enough in my opinion.

Sorry for bringing up an old topic but seeing as i havn't been on bigfooty for ages, this sparked my interest.

But if you were a Queenslander supporting Essendon, you'd want to see Essendon wouldn't you?

We haven't been to Queensland for 2 years whereas we went to Darwin last year. I don't think it's a bad result.

I agree, if i were to live in Queensland then yes i would be ecstatic that the Dons are playing at Carrara.
But what i'm trying to get at is Darwin fans have probably been looking forward to Essendon coming to TIO stadium since the Pre-Season roster was announced and we completly shunt them to the side because we want to play at the Gold Coast instead?
Plus, it's not like the Gold Coast fans will have no AFL matches to speak of, they have 4 in 2008 where as Darwin gets the lousy 1 Pre-Season game, the least we can do is play in front of a Pro Essendon crowd and knock the doggies out of the competition.
I can guarentee they want nothing better than that to happen!

But we gave that up to play at Cararra instead.

How does Matthew Knights feel about this? Considering his answer to indigenous Australians got him the job, surely he would not be happy...

I think there might have been a bit more in it than that my friend...

And believe it or not, there are more than just Aborigines in Darwin as well as there being plenty of Aborigines outside of Darwin, including Queensland.

In fact, Essendon has as many Aboriginal players from Queensland as we do from the Northern Territory.

I'm sure Knights shares the sentiments of the club in that it's a great opportunity to go to Queensland for the first time since 2006 when otherwise there wasn't going to be an opportunity in 2008.
