Very windy.Blowing across to the south pocket. We where kicking to that end.

Playing really fast football but kicks inside 50 have lets us down. Have been all over them for most of the quarter.
Wind is effecting both sides disposal.

Vigo ruck. Limited possessions but getting a few hitouts.

If Lual had decent disposal he would be playing AFL now.

SEH has had a few dashes but Lual has been the better of the wings.

Johnson looks good off half back.

2MP. Yeah nah.

Menzie kicked a nice roving goal. Has little time Jed zippy.

Menzie 2 goals and 3 tackles inside 50. Two nice goals off the pack but picking it up off the ground is his issue. Anyway he is playing more like a small forward and not a small KPF.

Wright. Poor. Playing forward/ ruck. Moved off the contest too easily. Falls over with even the slightest contact.

Edwards. Not happening so far. Has kicked a goal but the marks are not sticking.

SEH good quarter. Is still a bit too offensive minded for me. Finds himself out of position and running in circles a bit.

Not his best day out. His problem is he lacks pace so combined with the windy conditions and some average kicks inside 50 the Pies cut him off a bit. At least he does not go to ground like Wright at the drop of a hat.

He can take a mark in a contest yes. Trouble was we had trouble kicking it to a one on one contest unfortunately .

A quick review of the AFL listed guys guys

Gerreyn. Played forward all game. Did kick a goal and had some touches but he got limited chances due to poor inside 50 kicks or his opponent having the speed to cut him off. He has good skills and can take a mark but he is a bit of a plodder speed wise. You can see what they like in him but he will have to make it as a ruck as well. You would think he will get better mobility wise with a bit of time in the system but the lack of pace will be the question mark on him as a forward.

Wright. Did not play after half time. Some reports he may have been injured. I did not see it but he was very plain. Had a few marking chances but could not hold them. Got bowled over by smaller blokes a few times. He looks a millions miles away from where he was.

Menzie. Was one of our better players. Kicked 2.2 (maybe 3 but I could not 100% say it was him). Had 4 or 5 tackles inside 50. Both goals where from good reads off marking contests. Still had issues with a few ground balls but it was a good pressure small forward game.

Lual. Really strong first half. Took a big hit in a marking contest before half time. Played the game out but was not quite as good in the second half but still okay. If he had decent disposal he would be in the conversation to play wing at AFL level. He has a decent action but the decisions on where to kick it let him down which was the knock on him before the draft. Has really improved by the look of it but his kicking turnovers will sink him if he can not find the level.

Clarke. Look really good when he runs and breaks the lines and he is a genuine medium size player. Just needs to find some consistency and be able to stay in games for longer periods. Had an okay day with a few really nice moments. Could be a real find if he can mature the body and find the balance.

Unwin. Medium type of game at half forward. Did not dominate but I noticed him 3 or 4 time's doing doing some good things.

Visentini. Took 80% of the ruck. Had a lot of hit outs but there was a some nothing ones that went no where near our guys. Nothing wrong with how he attacked the contest and there where some nice taps to advantage at times. Limited touches around the ground and was not in great marking form. Gets a pass for playing virtually a full game in the ruck but needed to do ore around the ground.

Johnson. Played half back and was really good. His footy smarts came through and he was calm in traffic and showed some decent run. Solid defensively but still has a bit of work in that area. Faded a bit late but he has missed a bit of pre season. I liked what I saw.

El - Hawli - quiet first quarter but was one of our better players after that. Still think he is programed a bit too much on the offensive side which leads him to run in circles a lot to compensate defensively. Good game.

Nguyen. Quiet early but came into the game. His is a solid little bloke who has some tricks. Will be an interesting watch.

Day - Wicks . Really did not notice him but that could be because he has hardly trained and I do not know him. Kicked a goal I missed. Only reason I knew he was out there was I saw 44 at the huddle.

Edwards . Kicked a couple of goals but the marks did not stick today and a few of his good leads got missed by poor kicks.

As far as the VFL players go. Hateley was in our best. Played midfield/forward.
Nyko pretty good.
Ekersly was another victim of our average inside 50 kicks but battle hard.
Gallagher did not have a lot of touches but defender well .
Akuei looks like he can be a decent VFL find.
Foley was okay. Did a few good things.
A few others probably played well but I was not watching the VFL guys closely.
Apart from the poor inside 50 entries I thought we played well. Lots of hard attacking footy and the defense was solid. Turnovers going inside 50 probably cost us 4 goals going back the other way. In the end we out ran them and finished the game strongly after not really taking advantage of our first quarter dominance on the score board.
