For Richmond... they've been crap since I started following the Dons in 83 so I don't really have any hatred though the fact their supporters are so damn annoying on every form of media when they do even semi ok means I reckon I'd learn to hate them quickly if they had any sort of success, let alone a sustained period of it.

I have a sort of begrudging respect for Hawthorn and feel nothing towards North.

Perhaps it comes from never having lived in Melbourne, but that's the way I see it through my eyes.

Agree with this pretty much. The only time I really cared about North was when Carey was around but it was more to do with beating him than anything to do with North Melbourne themselves. Hawthorn I don't care too much about, I like a number of their players. Certainly beating Hawthorn is not as satisfying as beating Carlton.
