Why do your players like Montagna, Hayes and Dal Santo give the ball to Gram? :/

Longer penetrating kick. Joey and Dal are underselling their footskills a bit but Hayes primarily is there to fetch and dish instead of his kicking skills. Same reason why you don't see Blake and Dawson kicking much forwards in the backline, and why it's left to Gilbert, Gwilt and Fisher, more penetration with their kicking as opposed to accuracy.

Probably be harsh to single him out but does he always kick those horrible up and under kicks? Also your performance doesn't fill me with confidence for tomorrow, looks like our clash has taken it's toll.

i really hope your wrong as usual...

What's wrong with Lynch's performance in the backline for Sandringham lately ? Have you watched Sandringham these last weeks / this year / ever ?

But yes, I was wrong - Lynch is playing forward. I hope you're happy. I'm not and I doubt Lynch is really enjoying his debut, especially given how good he was the last weeks (in the backline).

And as I fear that you misunderstood my post in the first place - I did not have a go at Gilbert, I was afarid that a fine youngster who has finally found his position in the VFL and has been in very good form lately is not given a real chance to present himself (I recall that Heyne experienced a similar first game) by playing him out of position.

He is prone to them when he's out of touch, mongrel helicopter punts were more his forte but he was forgiven since they'd usually go 70 instead of 50ish. It's a sign of where he's at if he's shanking his kicks more often than not, which is largely about 60% for mine.

Cheers for the rational reply during trying circumstances, to say I handle poor performances with less than dignity is an understatement :thumbsu:.

OUT: Kosi

I don't care, I know it's not all his fault but he's done absolutely stuff all.

I know it sounds like I'm panicking here but rationally, I just can't see what he's done to keep his spot. If he pulled his weight and was in the best 22 on form, no complaints. The way he is though...

Having said that, it won't happen. It never does.

Seriously guys.... what are we going to do? :(

Angus Monfries is possibly the worst person in the AFL (in so many ways) as he falls forward any time the ball comes near him hoping for a free.
Sadly he was better than half our side tonight.

Changes have to be made now and weve been worked out.. Ross has a few weeks to work out a new game plan that we will need not to be this pitfull in sept

Seriously guys.... what are we going to do? :(

Quit being primadonnas and focus on why we lost and how to rectify those issues and then move onto next week perhaps?

It's poor form to single out individuals for the chopping block, especially in this scenario when the midfield and half forwards were butchered atrociously, yet already I've seen as such and am disappointed in those individuals who claim "supportive" status. Support instead of slag people, in the very least when I floated the idea to drop Gilbo it was to correct an issue and give the bloke a break not just [whip]Kosi must be dropped!!11eleventy[/whip] shape up yes?

Onto the game which was lost in the 1st half (second half was relatively even and we won the last quarter by 2 goals) it was lost for several reasons for mine.

  1. The midfield started slowly and were found out as numbers swarmed the contest, this was always going to happen and a possible solution was to maybe swap up the half forwards with Milne & Schneider rotating through the midfield and Dal & BJ forward.
  2. The half forward line did not function outside of Roo, sorry, but Lynch was not the man to bring in on a gameday basis, structurally yes, back yourself in (which Ross did) but questions need to be raised in regards to backing yourself in and disregarding the opposition. Essendon are small and hunt in numbers, so the value of a medium/tall forward is diminished unless they're a contested marker, and Lynch is more the lead up type.
  3. Kicking efficiency is again an issue, listed clanger count was again in our favour by 5 which ultimately denotes inefficiency by hand or foot an as we all know this is where a majority of goals are scored by the opposition; from turnovers.
  4. Once again, we lost the contested possessions, tackles, clearances or a combination of these stats (in this case, tackles & CP) this is an ongoing issue which demands being addressed. 2nd to the contest, not applying enough pressure on the opposition will always go a fair way to losing you matches.
A case in point is the forward line, which outside of Kosi (6 marks, 3 assists, 1 goal) and Riewoldt (8 marks, 2 assists, 2 goals) was bereft of targets allowing them to be swamped and played off. Steven (0-0-0) did squat, Lynch (3 marks-0-0) did didly, Milne (0-1-0) had an assist but was otherwise quiet and Schneider (4-1-2) had no contested marks and 4 marks total. Meanwhile guys like Stanton, Hurley, Fletcher and Hooker decided to have 6, 9, 11 and 13 marks across half back. Half forward line is still an issue that needs addressing.

Please Ross get rid of Kosi & Milne. They may have been good once & they may bob up & play a good game occasionally but we need a forward line that can kick goals.

A very disappointing effort by the Saints tonight.

Panic stations.

Malthouse is right teams have worked them out and where it all starts (while we were at our best) theyve learned to make Gilby and Fish more accounatable and cut their run combined with those forwards you mention not been potent, = game over

Ha sums it up for me.
