Round 13 1999:
Essendon 10.20.80 d Western Bulldogs 11.10.76
Who else was there? This remains one of my favorite wins by the club.

No Hird, no Lucas. Lloyd, Fletcher out of the game early, Boris knocked out (into the next week), Rioli, and Longy also experiencing injury problems during the match. Justin Blumfield brilliant and Paul Barnard inspirational in defence...particularly in the last quarter. One of the gutsiest wins i've seen from an Essendon team (remember no goals being kicked in the last 12 minutes?) It was also....i believe...the win that gave us the "self belief" we needed at the time to mix it with the likes of North( hence, our great win v 'Roos a few weeks later). Let's give it to the Bullies again tomorrow!
Carn Bombers!

where's wally?

Yes was there and remember how cold it was. I was glad we beat those turds. Every win against them makes me laugh. I hope we hammer them on the scoreboard and on the field.

Lloyd's injury was his own doing. He was being silly in the goalsquare. :D

If you had to pick a moment in time in the formation of our team, you'd look no further than that game. I still have that game on tape, and aside from the 99 Prelim, that game went a long way in developing a great sense of team spirit.

I was at that game......one of the best! I remember seeing Scotty Wynd coming off the interchange bench and was the only one withing 70 meters (every other player was around the ball).......I was ****ting myself becuase all the doggies had to do was get a quick kick to the wing and they had the game......It would have to go down as one of the gutsiest wins though!

Yes I was ther. I rember MMM saying tht Lloyd has busted his leg (spot on adrian, silly bugger), rassn frassn. It was a great win, particularly after falling behind. It's one of the best h&a games I've been to. The atmosphere that night was fantastic, the dark night sky really giving (me at least) a felling of being closed in.

i was at that game, amazing stuff
but there was a game at the end of 96 (correct me if im wrong here) and we won by a couple of points, mercs kicked a goal right at the end to give us the win

hirdy got 3 votes and won the brownlow, chris grant got two and missed out

I remember that game.
Essendon, Kangaroos and Westcoast were 6 points ontop of the Bulldogs.
As it turned out Westcoast, Essendon and Kangaroos were 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively after the round.
And the Bulldogs fell to 5th on the Ladder.
Essendon led at every change in that match and each time it was less than a kick.

I remember smokin Joe that game, he was awesome and killed US. But it was one of the best Bulldogs and Essendon games ever.

Maybe if we hadve won that game we would've made it further than what we did, as we wouldve finished 3rd and played Carlton in the first week of the finals.
