I know that Melbourne are absolute shit, but at least we climbed off the floor and won a flag recently. Essendon have been front and centre media darlings every pre season for about the last decade and have literally done nothing.

They have a bit of VFL history but nothing much over the last 30 years.

Matthew Lloyd 100% right today on radio.

They have topped up for the now. Its not about 2025,2026 or 2027. They must play finals this season.

I've currently got them 8th. The start to their season is a tough run. 5-4 would be a great result.

Just because they’ve topped up doesn’t mean they’re going to play finals. They’re got to contend for a spot with so many teams.

Both Carlton and Essendon have spent the last two decades as a shadow of our once mighty former selves.

Melbourne to be fair have won a flag in the era since the iPhone was invented. Carlton have been through a lot as a club since Jack Elliott made absolute out of the joint.

We haven't suffered the ignominy of a drugs scandal and an almost 20 years wait for a finals win though.

I wouldnt say its a slump. its very out of the normal what they are going through.

I think Thye can bounce back if they can keep their A grade players through this situation.

Id be very worried about Petracca, Brayshaw, Viney jumping ship.
