What, a 10 point win over Carlton, a team that has won the last 2 wooden spoons and is playing for a priority pick?

Yep, legendary. What a win! Essendon for the flag!

When you get hammed in your last 2 games like we have been a win is good, no matter who it is against, it's 4 points and we are still alive :D

mate I never said we would make finals, i simply said enjoy this win, over a club that we havnt beaten since 2005

One of the reasons Sheedy is going.

We were 1 from 6 against one of the worst clubs to ever play AFL.

What does that say about us?

stanton was great, didn't butcher the ball as much and did some nice things going into forward 50.
Gumby was quite good on the lead, still developing
Mcphee was great all day, proved most doubters wrong with a great game

He had a great game today

The problem is he has been inconsistent this yr. One week he's great, next week he's terrible and all his doubters are back

No one here is making any outrageous claims of flags or finals or anything like that, just simply enjoying the win. I tell you what I sure enjoyed it.

I enjoyed a vintage Hird performance, of which we are very close to not seeing again.

I enjoyed seeing Lloyd's best game in about three years, where his hands were like vices.

I enjoyed Lovett's best game in two years.

I enjoyed seeing the younger tier of players taking on the opposition and coming up trumps eg. Monfries, Reimers, Paddy

I enjoyed sort of a new look side playing some quicker and exciting football, with quick hands and good run, especially in that last quarter.

Yes, it was against Carlton, we're not a great side but we played well today and showed signs for the future, something which we have struggled to do all year.

Why not enjoy it?

100% spot on. A win's a win. We could have won by 10 goals and these negative morons would still not be happy.

I also enjoyed seeing Laycock have his best game in a while, shows we dont need him and hille in the same game and can get an extra midfielder into the game instead

Dead set mate piss off and take your negativity elsewhere.

:thumbsu:

Second half was really entertaining. Some good signs from some young blokes.

Anyone still bitching about team selection, because we don't win if Campo doesn't play and we don't get Laycocks game if Hille plays.

Highlight of the day from a Carlton supporter (after I told him to get lost when he called James Hird a fossil):

"Yeah? Look at the scoreboard! Ha? Yeah, bye bye."

Essendon were ten points down at this stage. Ten minutes into the second quarter.

Idiot.

Not a great game, and I'm not sure it really felt like a win...but I'll take it, it was good to see them fighting for it in the last half. :) And good seeing those bloody Carlton supporters leave so quickly at the end :D

Did we win or did Ratten win?

The only reason I am happy for this win is seeing Hird go our in style - this season is finished and the cold hard reality of footy these days is getting the best kids with the highest draft picks possible = losing. I really hate what the draft has done to this game.

the players will always have a dip - do the coaches though?

our season isnt finished.. we have two games left, our finals chances rest on two things imo

1. St kilda losing this weekend to WC (i would say with judd and cousins being included this week that is a big posibility)
2. We beat Richmond (should definately win this week) and the nbeat WC

I admit WC is a daunting task but one that we can accomplish
look at recent history. we one earlier in the year, last year when we won 3 games we still pushed them all the way at the dome and at subi...

we play well against the eagles every time...

we are not out of it yet
