Bookmark this, they will win it all in 2019 their midfield is looking very good now that Shiel is going there. They have a pretty good forward line and their back half can do the job.

They had a very handy midfield in 2018 and now with Shiel he will be the final piece of the puzzle, watch out for Essendon.

They will be dangerous and up there no doubt.

Still think if we can get some away with injuries then we make our 1st GF.

I called it 3 weeks ago before the Shiel announcement. Just feels right they'd take it.

They are the fairy tale, coming back from a terrible few years, they got a great core now, and Woosh is a good coach.

With Shiel coming in and Daniher coming back. Be very dangerous.

Heard the same after there recruitment last year and they didn't even make finals. They may improve yes but this thread is just moronic.

Sheil isn't in the top 20 midfielders in the league.

It doesn't matter if he is in the top 20 or not, they have a gun midfield now, they have all the pieces in places for a run at it and to win it.

the dons have been building nicely with good pressure around the ball

consistency is all that has been missing and that usually comes as the side matures

You dind't make the 8 last year and played off in the GF. Pretty rich for you to call it moronic.

Good midfielder announces he is going to big Victorian club with already good midfield and questionable game plan. Cue the lazy analysis about that club being a flag contender.

    Seen this all before.

What's going to change between now and April? They aren't going to lose any players. Unless another drug saga unfolds or their plane falls out of the sky, Bombers plus Shiel will be the same team this month as in April. No difference between declaring it now or in 6 months time.

They were almost the best side in the comp on pure form at the end of the season, and with Shiel coming in and Daniher coming back, no reason why the can't pinch a top 4.

Finals should be expected but the flag is no certainty, just look at Richmond this year with the best mid in the competition with Dusty and Hawthorn with Brownlow Medalist Mitchell, neither side made the GF.

If Carlton is bottom four and its wet, picking Essendon to lose is like picking Winx to win.

It has more to do with structure and set up, what Shiel brings to Essendon is that explosiveness from clearances it lacks, also it changes who goes where.

It's a bit hard to win the grand final when you can't even win a final

    They could
But the only logic behind this is that they've added Shiel to the team that finished 10th
We've added Lynch to the team that made a prelim
West Coast will add Gaff to the team that won a flag
Geelong added Dangerfield to the team that finished 10th and they didn't win the flag.

They're going to need a bit more explanation than just Shiel

We are a chance in 2019. But i see 2020 being our biggest opening. Cant see our list changing for the next 2 years. We dont need anymore players. We just need our currnent list to continue to develop and gel and get that deep familiarairty with each other.

Their last half of the season was really good. If they can not cock up some winnable games like they did in the first half they will be up there.
