Well if targeting a player who was contracted for two more years was no problem, midfielders from any other side that is not the Bulldogs could have been on the radar, with the draft pick capital in hand to secure them.
Right.

This guys is clearly trying to troll. It’s all good, we’ll be back at the same place next year and Dunkley could even be cheaper. The tales of holding someone to their contract against their will and that player staying long term are few and far between. Will be a very interesting year for the dogs next year IMO.
He is contracted until the end of 2022. He could also do a papley and decide to stay. Missed opportunity to fill a decent hole.

Totally agree re dunkley, it's not like he's going to be forced to play ruck this year with Martin in the team.

Yeh mate did you read what I posted? Papley is the few in few and far between. A bigger missed opportunity would be not taking two top 10 picks to the draft for a club that clearly has multiple holes on their list. Not just an inside mid.

If you don’t get a Dunkley caliber of player with your picks it’s a missed opportunity.

Well if we get Dunkley next year and keep all our picks and a years development into three highly rated kids, it’s an opportunity taken.
Fwiw..would an option have been to go to collingwood back in trade period and offer the daniher compo pick and a later pick for their pick 14 and 2021 1st. Then moved both those to the dogs for him?.

Maybe could have been a circuit breaker

I think it was tried between Collingwood and Essendon to work a 3 way trade but the Dogs said no
