Re: Essendon

Dogs had the Acker bug to carry. Not sure how much his nonsense affected the team, but he didn't contribute like he should have.

Re: Essendon

I think making 8th again is still a step forward from where we were last season. Arguably the hardest draw in the competition, if we win 11 that is a step up from winning 10 on a softer schedule last season.

This doesn't mean I think we will finish 8th.

Re: Essendon

It's hard to get too excited when you know if they make the finals Hille and Ryder will get dropped.

Haha! :D I will give you that, mind you it's better to have your players dropped than to have them on the ground choking sir

Re: Essendon

all i have to say is.. geelong and collingwood are miles ahead of fremantle who are ahead of essendon, dogs and st kilda.

Re: Essendon

Looking good for finals, especially with Sydney, Brisbane and Port Adelaide losing ground in recent weeks. Still an even comp though so nothing set in stone yet.

Re: Essendon

playing their best footy they can in May.

Dogs showed in the last that had they pieced together their best footy for even 3 qtrs and the game would be over.

I still reckon Bombers are suspect under real pressure and they love to run fwd of the footy - they beat us late last year in junk time before finals and later without Riewoldt/Gram and struggling (by 12 pts).....Id like to get them with a fully fit side and with the pressure I know we can apply.

Hey, if you think St Kilda - last year's runner up, no less, and nearly undefeated - would only beat us with a fully fit side, then it says a lot about Essendon.

Re: Essendon

Not bottom 4 material, but will still probably end up bottom 8. If they make the finals then they'll probably cop another shellacking like last year anyway.

Can't give credit when it's due?

Interested to see what your top 8 is then...

Wow. Won 4 of their last 5 and that one loss was by 3 points...

"Oh... but they've beaten nobody..."

Yeah, only the Saints and the Dogs... two of the teams expected to feature prominently in premiership contention this year... and smashed Hawthorn as well who have discovered their touch in the last couple of weeks...

Sydney in Sydney next week. Hopefully we can make it 3 wins in a row at the SCG after embarrassing the Swans at the ground last year.

Re: Essendon

Beaten Carlton, St Kilda & the Bulldogs... thrashed Hawthorn who have discovered their touch over the last couple of weeks and had a routine win over Richmond...

Lost to Geelong (1st), Collingwood (2nd), Fremantle (3rd), West Coast in Perth and a narrow 3 point loss to Port Adelaide that could of gone either way.

I think we'll continue to surprise a few people this year. Have hardly any injury concerns at the moment, besides Hooker & Melksham, and two good wins over top 4 contenders in the last three weeks will be a good confidence boost.

awww, the pressure you "know you can apply". You know it, hey. We weren't full strength when we beat you either. So, you're better huh, apart from the fact we just ****ing beat you... keep dreaming homie

Huge game for you guys next week. Your travel record is attrocious so to win next week would really make a statement (one has already been made IMO) about the bombers making finals this year.

Would also mean we could drop the Geelong game and be 6-6 with a reasonable run to come after that.

We're due for a 'down' week after a few high intensity efforts, hoping its against Geelong after we chalk up 4 in a row next week.

In case you didn't notice we were flat as a tack in the first half, we really only played well for 1 & a bit qtrs ourselves.

I think we've proven you need everything you've got to beat us.

Spot on. Lose next week we are back behind the eight ball and going to have to set ourselves a massive task.

Don't underestimate the 9 day break Essendon will have prior to the Sydney game... the Swans play on Sunday afternoon...

Think the confidence gained after a big win at the SCG next year will hold them in good stead.

Re: Essendon

Was so angry with Hille, at times he looked like he could of done something but didn't whether that was instruction or not it wasn't good enough, he should a gun player. Anyways glad bombers won at least!

It's one place we haven't been too bad.

We won there last year by 35 points.

Got flogged at Stadium Australian in 2008 but won at the SCG in 2007.

You're right though, big game and a big test.

Re: Essendon

still dont think collingwood threw everything at ya... i dont know i still dont think collingwood has played its best footy yet...

anyway! essendon... liking them a lot. very young very raw side still but obviously with the skill to take it to the best. a bit inconnsistent which would be expected from such a young side. deffs doing a lot better then wheree i thoguht they would be at the start of the season
