ive felt all along when they are up and about they can beat anyone, and right now they are.

The last few weeks i have seen that maybe its harder for teams to stop them then it has been before.

Im not sure if they will keep it up, but the future is getting brighter every week.

Biggest improvement this year is having Hille and having him back fully fit and going now, and combining with ryder.

Nobody rates us which is a good position to be in and we'll still start comfortable underdogs in a majority of our games this year.

We were clear favourites against the Tigers last week, who have been a bit of a bogey team in the last couple of years, and the game was all over in the first 20 minutes.

No matter if Swans beat Hawthorn or not tomorrow and despite their abysmal form of late, they will still start favourites at the SCG next week and they'll be no complaints from me. They were favourites against us last year as well and ended up losing by 36 points. And also in 2007 when we won there.

right now, unless we can beat hawthorn well tomorrow, essendon are the clear favourites for next week

Where did beating Geelong in '08 get Collingwood?? They harped on about it for years, but guess what? It meant nothing. One or two wins during the home and away season against the best side(s) means nothing!!

Carlton beating Geelong and Essendon beating Bulldogs means nothing more than 4 points to the victor. Form changes dramatically from round to round. The best sides win when form is lacking. Both Carlton and Essendon have proven that they are not in that bracket...

This is a good point. Collingwood smashed Geelong in that game, but in the PF of last year were no where near it. It does however give hope to teams like Carlton and Essendon, that if they bring their A game, they are in with a show to beat anybody. Until Essendon can start winning interstate on a regular basis (like Freo have learned to do) we can't talk top 4 and flags.

The main thing for Essendon is their consistency. They simply can't back up these performances, and until they do that they're going to find it tough to win enough games of footy to go anywhere. They decide to show up every 1 in 3 games at the moment and the sooner they correct that, the better. Last night was the first time in a long time I saw their gameplan as solid as it was, even when they beat us they still seemed to get a lot of running goals over the back of packs compared to set shots. And they always seem to have brain fades in the easiest of situations as they make a 3 on 1 inside 50 like a 3 on 3.

They finally seem to be having a bit of talent coming through and shining like Gumby, Hurley and Ryder.

I agree that's been our downfall over the last few years, but we just beat Richmond as expected & have won 3 in a row w a Sydney game coming up... Hopefully the tide is turning
