 Good lord! They remind me of the sashes from the Miss Universe contest.

It may look ugly but that is what you get when the AFL forces you to have an alternate strip.

Someone please post a pic..........

No, that's what you get trying to be a smart ass with your 'clash' strip. With red shorts that outfit just looks plain ridiculous.

Red with a black sash and black shorts would have looked decent.

And if the AFL said to you tomorrow, OK collingwood, you can play all your games back at Victoria Park, including Anzac day, you would be ok with this?

This still doesn't explain the abandonment of Victoria Park for the Lexus centre either.

Abandoning Tradition seems to be fine im some cases, but not fine in others. Your making hypocrites of yourselves.

Or more pertinantly changing the back of the Pies" guernseys to black (as opposed to white with black numbers) so that the Emirates sponsorship logo comes out heaps more clearly.

Collingwood did that, as is their right I guess. But to have them constantly squawking about being forced to change their colours is most definately hypocritical.

No numbnuts, that would have clashed with the Saints guernsey & black shorts, as much as I hated our strip today, at least no one can say it clashed.

yet readily abandoned their traditional home ground instead of upgrading it just to move to better facilities. That my friend is being a hypocrite which is my point.

You have obviously never been to Victoria Park. The grandstands would never have able to be built to fit the number of Collingwood members. Car parking was also a major problem with a capacity of 30,000 never mind having 70,000 people there. Also when upgrades where wanted by the club the council had to many restrictions on what could be built on the site.

Love the red shorts, it reminds me of the mid 80's all over again.

Well done on Essendon for choosing something that doesnt clash and unlike some other teams.

I think the Essendon clash strip proves that you don't have to step too far away from tradition when creating a clash strip. Even the red shorts are somewhat part of Essendon's heritage. It's a simple, yet effective clash strip - wider sash with red shorts.

I saw it today and IMO it looks great.

i thought essendons jumper was kind of funny actually. it was as though the bombers were telling the AFL "we don't want to wear clash jumpers. we feel so strongly about it, we're prepared to wear the UGLIEST GEURNSEY EVER to prove our point"

:)

not long til collingwood will be forced to do the same.

the longer they resist, the more hilarious it will be when the pies come sheepishly out in their alternate strip.
