Knights gone, no surprises there, but moving on, the important question is, who will replace him?
Apparently Knights was ousted by "influential coterie groups and members". So, who does the club want to take it forward?
Does it have to be an Essendon person? Does it have to an experienced Senior coach?

Williams, Richardson, and Laidley seem to be the early front runners. Any of those or someone else?

What exactly has Harvey done? Made 1 final, well that is exactly what Knights made. The result will likely be the same.

It will be a nobody who isn't worried about his reputation being tarnished because finals football is a way off for this team, regardless of who is at the helm. That means Alan Richardson will be a shoe in.

Really depends on the set-up. If it was a Collingwood-style takeover with Hird there, I'd have no problem with Matthews there for 1-2 years.

Can Essendon attract a quality coach with long term career prospects given Hird has stated he is passionate to coach? Anyone who takes the job, regardless of how succesful he is, will merely be grooming the team for Hird to take over.

Surely you can see the difference in the Fremantle team of today, and of the one CC put together.
Harvey completely rebuilt that team into what we have today. Something Knights should of had the balls to do.
