Essendon's Talls

I don't have to try at all. There is an entire thread about Melksham on your team board for the world to see. Start about page 15 - he is the whipping boy at Essendon. You won't find another player at your club that cops as much as he does. Nice try.
Wow you must be fascinated and very bitter with our club, don't North have their own forum and whipping boy, or is that a bit like North games and nobody goes there either? Either way you are still trying too hard, this is the trades board, take to melksham trolling to the bay....then we could also talk about which club has a last quarter fade out problem...

Every club have whipping boys. It just that most don't say the supporters love them when it is clearly incorrect. Happy to talk trades but it maybe best to wait until August. Value of a player can drop very quickly when facing a long term suspension.

Tom Sheriden went at 16 - he is a young skinny kid that was always going to need time. I still think he will be ok. You look like you will have around pick 16 again- I would have thought that would be more than enough for Crameri. I suppose Tom could be steak knives if he was going to walk anyway.

Tarrant signed until the end of 2015. If I was Freo it would be Black I would chase - he is a WA boy and has looked very good in his 14 games.

Agree on Black and Im sure we will chase him. I just cant see how a trade could get done that would satisfy North this upcoming trade period as we would have to pay overs as Black is contracted. Perhaps Suban, Sheridan and our No 1 pick would be considered by North. I would wait a year and then make a significant offer to Black when he is out of contract.

If you think those three are going to walk in and replace the contributions of Watson and Stanton your going to be in for a wake-up

Gumbleton and Pears are barely tradeable, it would be interesting to know what their contract status is and with Gumbleton he would have to be close to being a free agent.

Hooker probably has the most value but I reckon pick 35 is about right for someone with clear limitations. Because essendon has identified that they need more quality midfielders, then yes they are going to release tall players that are not part of their best 22 and it will be at bargain basement rates because they will either walk or be delisted at the end of 2014.

The comments above are all massively off base. Pardon the pun, but key talls are in massively short supply. Early second round for Hooker or Pears would be the minimum. Bulldogs offered early second round for Gumbelton last year and im pretty sure they would make a similar offer this year.

Mate, lets be honest and admit Jake got a lot of flak last year. A lot of it wasn't directed at the player, but at the fact he was seen as getting unearned game time, but he still was targeted quite a bit. Most teams have guys who are maligned, and some guys who are correctly criticised. Melks probably bordered that line last year.

It would also be true that many EFC fans are loving his current work and performance.

Blues would kill for Hurley. Can play either end, young, has good aggressive demeanor.

His inability to stay fit and (apparent) crapness as a forward notwithstanding, it'd take our first rounder plus to get him, and I'd do it.

He will get better, though you do now start to wonder whether he's the superstar he's been advertised as, or whether he's just a player. Either way, he's exactly what Carlton needs - another guy to switch places with Hendo and build up the tall stocks.

Funnily enough, the year Essendon took Hurley (at #5 I think?), Blues took Yarran at #6. Would both teams be better off right now if they'd switched places? I say.... probably. Neither has set the world on fire since being drafted, both have underwhelmed, but you still see the potential for excellence in each of them.

Disagree on that. Crameri's running ability is perfectly suited to Subi. I reckon he would kick 40 goals plus in purple. Sheridan and pick no 1 definitely far from overs in my view for Crameri.

Glad you're not running the club. Sheridan looks perfectly suited to Subiaco. Did some nice things on the weekend. Was always going to need some time.

Sheridan + our 2013 1st is major overs for Crameri.

He's a 3rd tall (a good one though) and I'd compare his talentwise to Wellingham. A great compliment to your team but never will be a star.

Wellingham was worth pick 17. Pick 16 for Crameri is about right. No way they get a developing mid who loos to be getting it in Sheridan.

Note that the third quote is about a player from another team and from a different thread. Bluespooner is obviously a troll who goes around just criticising other teams players. Either that, or he doesn't have the first understanding of other team's players or the value of draft picks. He's been told that his valuation is way off since other clubs rated Hooker higher last year, Hooker is obviously even better this year, and yet he wants to argue that he's only worth a single third round pick.

So I'm leaning towards troll.

How he hasn't been carded? Clearly a troll.

Crameri would easily net a first round pick. Having a laugh if you think otherwise.

The guy has improved his goal kicking output every season, he's almost bettered his 2012 output despite missing at least 3 games this year and we're only 2/3 of the season through. He's a 40-50 goal medium forward in my book.

I would be loathe to trade him.

Yep. We'll have an early second round pick (around the 20ish mark) and even though we are reportedly chasing Crameri, I don't think that's enough for a trade.

He is a poorer version of Drew Petrie - struggles against the good sides.

Late first round is his worth.

2012
Top 8 - 8 goals in 8 games = 1 goal per game
Bottem 10 - 24 goals in 10 games = 2.4 goals per game

Essendon notoriously play hard ball during the trade period. I think they'll be asking for too much for us to take anyone.

Crameri maybe, because we won't want to lose him. I can't see us playing hardball with players like Gumbleton. The club will be aware that we can't offer him the opportunities he deserves.

We gave Monfries away for a packet of saladas. I know he could have gone as a restricted FA. But it still shows that we are open to sensible deals. We also traded Jenkins for practically nothing (upgraded a pick 40 ish to 30ish).

I think we have improved in this area.

If you want Jetta or Gumbleton, they will not cost you much. Crammers maybe.

Would be a good little package for the right club. Both would have played all year at other clubs.

Is what they said in the HS today that all of Crameri, Bellchambers, Gumbleton, Pears and Hooker are out of contract at the end of the season true?

Hard to not see at least one or two of them going if it is. Clubs will be going after most of them pretty hard and that may squeeze one or two out. GWS will be all over a few of them I reckon.

Yes, unfortunately all of them are out of contract. Good thing is that talks are on for Crameri, Pears, Bellchambers and Hooker right now and they've all stated that they want to stay at Essendon.

Unfortunately we'll see Gumbleton in Fremantle/Carlton/Bulldogs colours next season

Was Sheridan the guy who sat in the stands at the Essendon Freo game barracking for Essendon?

Might have been. No idea. There's the rumblings that he might be looking to go home so it could be your guy.

If that was the case though he wouldn't be a chuck in with a first to get Crameri. Sheridan and a 3rd rounder may be but not a 1st.

I'd prefer if we kept Sheridan though.

Right, let's open this up, apparently Jetta wants out and we know Gumby is in demand.

What would clubs offer up?
