Essendon's Talls

Sorry, our asking price would be a fair bit higher. More like a McGlynn (even though that's never going to happen). Pears is the realistic option for Sydney.
Pick 14-18 plus a bit more. Lamb will be a lot better than Mcglynn. Hooker is out of contract?

Say if Cale hooker wanted to come home to WA, would you still want pick 13 for him? I dont want Gumbleton for obvious reasons of him being injury prone.

If Essendon loses Bellchambers we might be able to look at a swap for Mumford

We haven't really got the players you want Lamb could be a possibility but he's hasn't had enough games to be worth anything and we don't really have a spare line breaking mid so maybe it would have to be our first pick which I am comfortable with.

Yeah, no thanks. Hooker is worth a lot more to us than we would get, plays his role for Essendon and I doubt we would even entertain a trade. Sure if we get an early pick we MIGHT consider it (note: talking top 10). We won't be settling for a pick in the late teens for Hooker, and nor should we.

Again, why? We could get a cheaper option for a heck of a lot less. Not to mention we would get more from GWS if he was going to go. Your first pick is not enough and I don't want Mumford as who knows if he is over his injuries.

We don't need somebody for the future, as one of our F/S picks looks like he ould fill that role to a tee (Jydon Neagle). So McGlynn as a short term fix. Hoker is out of contract but all the indications are that he wants to stay at the club and is going to re-sign

It's unlikely that he'll leave due to the fact that he's rejected two trades away from us in the past 2 years. Gumbleton is over his injuries, has been for a couple of years now

So Hooker has rejected a couple of trades in the last 2 years? Was one of them to a WA club to lure him back home or another victorian club that was short on Quality tall defenders?

Considering Jetta is from WA, are your team planning to use him as trade bait? If so what do you think he is worth?

Rejected one going back to West Coast, another one going to GC.

What would you give for him?

Would do a straight Suban for Jetta to be honest, somewhere close to that would get it done.

If you read my post earlier, Depending where freo finish, I would offer a 1st round pick (13-16) to get him. You would think it would be an act of desperation to get him. But McPharlins contract runs out in 2014 and will be 32/33 years old next season. Michael Johnson is 28 and Zac Dawson is 27. So you see my predicament.

I would of been happy offering my 1st and 2nd round pick for Harry Taylor at Geelong but it seems he will stay over there.

Sadly you guys would win that bet... Freo have enough Forward pockets with Walters and Ballantnye. Freo have plenty of Forward flankers in Crozier, Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Mayne and Mitchie. I reckon the eagles would be half interested as they want another person to partner up with LeCras.

Well I agree, he is the sort of player we could do with though, a swap wouldn't be bad. That said I would do a swap of picks, your 2nd for our 3rd, pretty simple trade.

Just can't see us letting Hooker go, that is an honest answer. It would have to be a ridiculously good trade, and I am not sure pick 15 (lets go in the middle), is a 'great' result for Essendon, I would want a sweetener at least.

I just noticed he is contracted until the end of 2014. Considering he was from the 2006 draft... by the end of next season he will be a Free agent. Im happy to get him until then.:D

I understand, but we simply wouldn't take it. You're better off chasing Gumbleton as a key forward

No club would trade for a mediocre talent like Hooker, let alone give up a decent pick. Hooker is at best an upgrade on a third round pick, like Spangher last year. A swap of say pick 72 for pick 66.

All clubs have got access to mediocre talent in their VFL teams.

We were offered picks 25 and 26 last year for Hooker.

He won't leave- loves it here and we will have the money to keep him, especially as we are entering our window.

Hooker is better than your entire backline mate, so if he is mediocre, what is yours? Do we really need to be petty. Hooker is the leading intercept marker in the comp, he isn't a dud.

I can see your side of the story... I do rate him as well. Considering he is a KPP, your mob has spent a good 3-4 seasons developing this guy. If Hooker is happy to stay in Victoria, it would be hard for him to make a trade anyway.

Only thing is Freo are reluctant to give away their 1st round pick. They have not traded a 1st round pick since 2006 when they traded for Chris Tarrant. Freos recruiting in the last 5 years have been decent.

That's a bit harsh. They have spent 3-4 seasons developing him. and he is in their teams 22.

It was considered a weak draft, in addition to which it was massively compromised. Hooker is at best an honest footballer who has a bit of height, but everyone knows his limitations - he can't use his left side at all, is an average kick, and plays his role in the backline by negating.

Clubs want much more than that from a first round draft pick. Hence, I'm using the word honest as an euphemism for mediocre.

I agree, and honestly a more realistic target is probably Tayte Pears. Look I would look at something like:

Your 1st + Your 2nd for Hooker + Our 3rd but you are paying overs and I hate the notion of screwing clubs. Plus I actually like Fremantle. If I were you, go after Gumbleton, there is your key forward and then look at Pears for a 3rd rounder. He isn't Hooker but neither was Zac Dawson and he has been a solid purchase.
