Umm... what does a "director of coaching" actually do anyway? It sounds like a wanky name for the bloke who shakes his head every time Collingwood loses and whispers to Eddie "This bloke is really shit."
It's the BEST role for someone who wants a cushy high paid retirement. Which makes Shithouse's rejection of the role make him look even dumber than he already is.

You basically get paid around 900K a year to fly around the world on Collingwood's dime to observe other elite sports and poach ideas on how to better improve the club.

When back in Australia, you're "coaching the coaches", which is another way of making sure all the assistant coaches are on board with the head coache's message and gameplan. It's basically the same as having 2 Football Directors. I'm assuming Ed would have given Walsh other things to do, or allowed him to focus more on other stuff rather than spreading him so thin.

Roos would be silly not to take it.

Gotta disagree on that one. Cushy job? Certainly. Blaming Mick for not wanting to work as Nafan's underling? Nah.
The whole 'handover' idea was borked from the starters, I think anyone with half a brain knew that. It's like as some so & so in politics said once... "nobody gives you power. You have to TAKE it." (or maybe that was from a Schwarzenegger movie, my memory plays tricks on me these days)

I do agree Roos would be stupid not to take the Collingwood "Director of cushyness" gig. It'd even allow him enough time to continue On The Couch (speaking of cushy gigs..) much to our shared displeasure. Who the hell would want the stress of Buck's job when you could happily point the finger at him the moment something goes wrong while still taking your share of the credit otherwise?

Dude, the "handover" was Ed's nice way of sacking Mick "17 years coaching without a flag" Malthouse. He should be thankful Ed gave him the option of a 900K per year for 3 years retirement fund.

I agree, perfect role for Roos. Gives him all the flexibility in the world to continue his role as Sydney Ambassador in the media, whie being paid to fly overseas by Collingwood. The ultimate troll position for the ultimate troll.

Interesting, interesting, interesting call from an Essendope supporter on SEN this morning, apparently with inside information about the club.

Apparently, Hird will not be coach next year, for starters. That's not too hard to fathom as he's likely to get punishments for his wrongdoings.

However, the caller also said that Paul "something would have to change" Roos would be coaching the Dons next year.

What do other Essendope fans think of this? Haduken I am sure your balanced *cough* commentary is needed here.
I would rate it "highly unlikely".

Also I appreciate that when you need fair and balanced coverage Duritz, you turn to me :thumbsu:

Exactly.

Besides, Paul Little can easily afford to throw more dosh at Ross Lyon than what he's getting at Freo right now. Given the Bombers' defense is a joke I'd say it'd be a great fit. ;)

Get Fckd - we stole him and we're keeping him

Possession is 9 tenths of the law - 10 tenths in Cousins case and 0 tenths if the Bomber supporters are to be believed

I think it would be sweet, juicy revenge if the AFL took over and - after sacking Hird - forced Essendope to take on Matthew Knights as head coach. That revenge would be sweet and juicy, like a sweet, juicy dose of peptides.
