ETA Visa

A friend of mine is visiting Australia from the USA - he has an ETA and a one way ticket as he is not sure if he is going back to the States or whether he will travel around the world. Can anyone tell me whether he will be allowed into Australia on an ETA with a one way ticket?

Yeah thanx for that Umpa, have looked at this before and there is no mention of return ticket, as far as I can see, or am I missing something?

If I was him, I'd buy a cheap Virgin/Jetstar flight to New Zealand and use that if they ask to prove he has an onward ticket.
