I believe Eddie said he wants all Melbourne home games at the G once the Etihad contract expires. Anyone know when this is likely ?
Have no problem with away games at Etihad, but ALL our home games in Melbourne should be at the G.
can anyone shed some light ?

Funny how things change, when Docklands was built I remember all those clubs fleeing the MCG to Docklands for a better deal, now everyone wants out.

I believe that we actually don't have a contract with Docklands Stadium management, the AFL do, but that we as a club of the AFL are forced to play a certain amount of games at the ground as part of the "blockbuster clause" in the AFL's contract.

We do have a contract with the MCG and the AFL that states we must play at least 14 home and away games at the G for a certain number of years (no idea how long that is though).

With 5 interstate games next year, we have to play one less game at one of the two stadiums, and I know which one Eddie will be pushing for the dropped game to come from, and it doesn't have the words "Melbourne", "Cricket" and/or "Ground" in it's title.;)

IIRC the MCG contract was about 20 years long. It was a great decision by the club and Eddie.

So many Collingwood haters hate Eddie, but they never acknowledge how much of a shrewd businessman he is. God I love him.

Isn't our contract at the MCG linked to interstate teams getting a home prelim as well?

You bet. Shrewd move by Ed after the bleating from Brisbane fans after playing a 'home' PF at the G in 2004.

Ed did the interstate clubs a favour and happened to help us a tad also but they'll never acknowledge it.

Eddie has done a lot for Collingwood. He has some great skills but he is not a particularly schrewd business man. A good networker and negotiator but he has made some stinker decisions personally and with Collingwood over the years.

He is spot on about the G v Etihad though. The less we play there the better and we shouldn't waste home games there. Strategically if he can get the home games at the G he can rely on the other clubs to press for our Melbourne away games to be at the G as well. The real issue is where we play interstate clubs.

So has Donald Trump
