"No, I don't think so," Demetriou told reporters on Friday.

"We've got lots of clubs who put in requests about the fixture but we control the fixture solely.

"It's important that we fulfill our contractual obligations to both Etihad Stadium and the MCC. We will continue to do that and that means that everybody's got to make sure that they contribute.
I say to the AFL how about making the home tenants of Etihad play all their home games there instead and then you will still get your damn quota.

yeah we get it that some teams need compensation for the crappy deal they have with Etihad, so give them the compensation instead and let us play on our home ground you bunch of prats.

Yeah it's *****ed that they bend over backwards for bloody Carlton and the bummers and let them have home games at our ground instead of us. Dimwitreou can lick my balls if he wants to talk about contractual obligations.

If the supporters vote with their feet.
The AFL would be stupid not have the Tiges play at the "G" more often.

Let's get 65,000+ to the Freo game and show them that we are on our way.
I seriously think this is very achievable after last nights victory.

GO TIGES.

Correct. The Rising Tiger is a hype magnet, a crowd magnet, a drawcard for the AFL.

If we show we can draw big like a flying Collingwood can you bet your shirt the AFL will be cramming Richmond blockbusters into the G.

Besides the Dome is OK. Truth is we never hated the Dome. We hated losing there.

Why don't Hawthorn play there?
Goes back to the end of Waverley.

Whorethorn wanted no part of Terror Dome so forced the AFL and MCC to give them preferred status at the G. IIRC it does not matter if we can pull 100,000 to every game, Hawthorn, Melbourne & Collingwood have preferential status at the G and we will be forced to play at the sh1t hole. Those clubs contracts are iron clad, they play at the G ahead of us.

I'm suprised the club hasnt come out and taken a swipe at those comments. Find fairly ignorant of the AFL.

Imagine if the AFL told the Dockers or Eagles they had to play a home game at Leederville instead of Subiaco because say they had "contractual" obligations.

Bloody stupid.

Hate to sound all MT but we need every single Richmond person to get to the G next week and give the AFL no choice but to give us every home game at the G.
It needs more than one game butof course you are right.

I bet the bean counters are a bit p1ssed off there is no second Richmond V Collingwood to look forward to for instance. With us going well we will almost certainly outdraw Carlton and it'll be interesting to see if the untouchable Carlton V Essendon and Collingwood H and A arrangement remains in the face of the realty that the top 3 draws will probably be COLL ESS and RICH.

Well kudos to Hawthorn then. Nothing wrong with that.
Etihad is a strange stadium in so many ways.
  • When you have decent seats (I rarely sit, I always stand) there is no better place to actually watch the game.
  • Standing room is abysmal. Standing room was 6 deep last night. I have never seen it so crowded. I put this down to the fact that Richmond supporters refused to pay extra for seats (like me) and stood instead.
  • It is convenient to get to. For me anyway, coming from Geelong, it is way more convenient than the MCG.
  • It lacks soul. atmosphere can be great like last night, but it still lacks soul. I can't put my finger on why, but it is not a 'real footy ground'.
  • It feels strange too. Close the roof and put 50,000 bodies packed in and it gets pretty warm in there. Something doesn't seem right about it being a cold winter's night and being warm inside a stadium with a roof. Doesn't seem right to me. I likemy creature comforts, but not at the footy. Being at the G last week with it raining and dropping down to 12 degrees by half time, I turned to KiwiTiger and said 'There is no better place in the world to be than here in winter'.
  • Our home is the MCG.

We play 2 games there this season. 1 home vs eagles, 1 away vs saints. That's not too bad. Pies play 2 home (against north no less) and 1 away.

Plus, it was a saints home game, at their home ground. Isn't that what you are asking for?
