They built the ground 90 degrees in the wrong direction to start with. I hate the place, i remember going to Melbournes first game there in 2000 against WCE. We won but despite there only being 22,000 ppl in the ground around about a third of the people weres till waiting to get in at the first bounce.

And i also how you have to pay different prices to sit aat different levels. Not to mention, when we where a good side we lost there to bad sides, and when we were bad we got thrahed there by good sides. No good memories at all.

I hate the place too. It has no atmosphere and I hate being held up like fu%^en sheep trying to get across that f^&ken bridge after the game - all I want to do is get the f^&k out of the place after a loss and we are forced to stand there waiting for 40,000 people to get across a small bridge - great design...NOT!

The MCG is the best...love it! Love the walk to and from the G, love the view from the second level on the wing, love the history of the place and love that it is the home of the greatest and oldest club on the planet!

Any stadium which outlaws 'contraband' food being taken into the ground is seriously f****d! Did I hear correctly on the PA system outside the ground that this was the Etihad policy?

Me and my mate went to St Kilda v Roos at Etihad a few weeks back, we had hungry jacks and security guard said we had to eat it/throw it away before we went in.

BUT does the G have the same policy? It's probably not too uncommon....

This!!! Except level 1 is the place to be when Melbourne are playing. Can't stand being higher up as I just want to be as close as possible.

I was sitting third level, and looking down at the boundary line closest to me there was an area about 7-8 metres deep that I couldn't see.

The ball went into this area a couple of times as Melbourne were coming out of defense, and I couldn't see any of the 3 players contesting it.

It's not really a game-ruining issue, but I think what he was getting at is that you don't get that sort of problem at the MCG. I haven't sat 2nd level Etihad before, so I don't know what it's like there.

This! Exactly the same issue!!

First time to Docklands in years. Gotta add my two cents. Most of this has been rightfully said by others.

Terrible, terrible ground for watching and playing football.

  • Gloomy and soulless
  • Small size encourages a shit, congested, flooding style of football
  • Poor quality surface inhibits fast running and causes players to fall over
  • $40 for a good seat? Piss-off
  • Couldn’t see the TV screen from the top level due to the roof thing
  • Also couldn’t see play within 5meters of the boundary line
Full credit to norf for playing a style to suit the ground. Would much rather have low-drawing games scheduled to Optus Oval. Went for a kick there on Saturday, brilliant surface.

They need a second bridge towards Southern Cross from the Latrobe street side of the ground. It's a joke that people coming from that side of the ground have to herd themselves along just for the chance to join the herd again. It's unrealistic to expect that everyone on that side of the ground is going to catch the tram.

/town planning

I got given free tickets from someone but I gave them away coz I had friends I wanted to sit with and thought we'd be aligned certain seats (thinking the lowest level was the cheapest).

Then I find out the top level is the cheapest so that's what we got and then it was revealed we could sit anywhere we liked (up there)... shoulda taken the free tickets and went up there anyway! lol.

And yeah; Dr Opkick: The prices are ridiculous!
