Re: European Poker Tour (EPT)

The first 100k event ever held at the PCA run and won with 38 entries.

1 - Eugene Katchalov $1,500,000
2 - Daniel Negreanu $1,000,000
3 - Bryn Kenney $643,000
4 - Nick Schulman $400,000
5 - Humberto Brenes $200,000

That makes Negreanu the first to 14m in earnings and ahead of Ivey.

Re: European Poker Tour (EPT)

The PCA has been an EPT tournament in recent years but this year seems to be both an EPT and NAPT tournament

By the way, the identity of isildur1 has been revealed at the PCA.

I'm pretty sure it's only supposed to be listed as a NAPT tournament. They announced that when the NAPT launched.
Looks like it's a bit of everything. Officially it's
- PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) Season 8
- EPT Season 7
- NAPT Season 2

Disappointed that Ana Marquez and Moneymaker didn't make the PCA final table. But check out the pay structure below.

1. $2,300,000
2. $1,800,000
3. $1,350,000
4. $1,000,000
5. $700,000
6. $450,000
7. $300,000
8. $202,000

Compare that to the 2009 Aussie Millions where 1st paid $2,000,000, 2nd $1,000,000, 3rd $700,000 and 4th $400,000.

Flatter payout structures :thumbsu:

I don't think the person winning the PCA will be complaining that they should have won $3.5m and 4th should have only got 600k.

Aussie Daniel Neilsen finished 3rd at the EPT San Remo.

Personally I find it ridiculous how often the pros shove pre. Could be 200 BBs, they still want to get their stack in with anything.

How dare you 4-bet me with Queens! Don't you know I have A9o? Take this 5-bet shove. You know I'll hit.

And the winner cleaned up thanks to this hand:

Evidence of 200bb ships preflop?

Given most average raise sizes even at an early stage (you need to be at the second or third level to have 200bb in most cases anyway).

Average open is around 3x, 3bet would be about 8x, 4bet maybe 18x, 5b would probably be 45x before a shove.

Im not exactly a tournament professional, but if assuming say, 40x stacks. If I open for 2.4x and get raised to 6x by someone that will 3bet a heap of hands a lot (say top 25% of hands) but wont call off without a relatively big hand, say AQs, AK and TT+, then I have an immediately profitable shove in general*

*In general a 3betting range will be polarised rather then depolarised. For example, I would be more likely the 3bet with a hand like 56s then pocket 8's, since I would hate to raise the 8's, get shoved on and have to fold. Instead I would be more likely to call, particularly if I had the advantage of position on you for the hand. Also, I am not allowing for the various types of payout structures where the non-linear value of the chips may change certain decisions.

Anyone remember Bill Perkins from the PokerStars Big Game? Well he's not very good. But he's playing the PCA High Roller and has busted Ludovic Lacay, Carlos Mortensen and Viktor Blom!!!

Posted about this in the other thread, go go Rossiter. Nice guy - a true poker nerd, and I don't mean that in a derogatory way.

Sorry mate, yeah google pokerstars tv, and click on the links. They've had some dickhead on the coverage most days around this time lee someone from pokerstars head of something, fortunately his time in the booth is over for the day. At stages had to turn down the commentary he was so irritating.

Every player on the table has had huge pocket pairs, Ross not so. Just watching a hand now, Greek bttn smasher opens with AQ, gets 3 bet by villain who has had AA twice in the last 20 hands and has 9 2 off, and then 4 bet by nordic villain who has KK 2nd time in 15 hands. Greek bttn smasher decides to 5 bet but actually strings it, bringing in the floor.
