Toast Evans' Debut

Got himself out of some tight spots with his dash. Kicking agreed wasnt there but it was passable and i dont think he had a clanger so it wasnt bad by any means. Took some nice grabs and ran hard... needed more like him today.

Thought he looked comfortable enough for a first gamer and involved himself well. Should improve at other aspects of his game like any player but overall pretty happy with his first game.

I wonder how long since the #50 last graced the seniors.

Edit: Kevin Dyson 1991 according to Demonwiki

Looked good in the clinches, but gee it was obvious we lacked a bit of class today without Trengove, Grimes and Scully

Add Bennell to that as well

Prepared to get hurt too, saw him dive into contests a few times. We need that.

Kid was basically out of the game for 2 years before we drafted him... lots and lots of upside.

He will be the next Dane Swan. An 'A' grade butcher of the ball

Is that a shot at Evans, a shot at Swan, both, or a positive remark?

If Evans turned out anything like Swan i'd jizz in my pants.

I loved the kid today maybe he can show some of our 21,22 years olds how to attack a footy with ferocity and not lose your feet.

A shot at Swan. But Evans desperately needs to improve his disposal. What's the point of getting 27 touches if you only hit your target half the time????

I did not have high hopes for Evans (or Nicholson for that matter), but he had a good debut. I hope he keeps it up.

Promising debut.
Much to do before he proves to be a player of longevity.
Did enough today to earn his guernsey for next week.
Good luck to the young fellow.

1. Watch more footy, Swan is a damn good kick

2. Whilst his disposal needs to improve he certainly has a fluent action, and it wasn't easy finding targets out there today.

Surely we can cut him some slack for his disposal given it's his first game.

His use in the VFL has been reasonable, and it's a fair step up. Kid has basically missed the last 2 years of junior footy, straight into VFL, and then into AFL after 6 or 7 games. Might take him a little while to adjust and get the confidence back in his ball use.

He is a jet though running through the middle of the ground, and he goes hard at the ball. Certainly has enough tricks, and enough upside to be a very very good player for us in the future!

Could be another Jordie McKenzie by the sounds of it - can find the pill, got a bit of dash and doesn't mind the hard stuff. Exciting to see another kid have a crack and do well.

27 touches @ a disposal efficiency of 70% is very good for a first gamer.

To be able to find the ball 27 times in your first ever AFL match is an excellent effort. Remember Sylvia had just 1 handball on debut, in a winning team too.
