Our world is so full of unfathomable tragedy, it really is a horrid place to live in. We only accept it because it's all we know, but face it, we got a raw deal. We could've been born into a less horrible and scary world. I suppose this might be the privilege that our descendants enjoy with advances in science and technology to avert disasters and illness, but we personally have been screwed out of such a reality. At least we're doing better than our ancestors I guess.

Every single night of my life before I go to sleep.
Every morning, I wake with a renewed vigor towards life.
And round and round again.

World is also full of so much wonderful stuff

I'd rather look at the positives and enjoy the time i have alive.... we're not here for a long time, but a good time

That's one perspective, valid as it is, focusing on one's own self, satiating themselves.

Another perspective, valid in turn, what help, joy, humor, good one can bring to others in and around their lives, from a non-selfish pov, more to life than one's own self.

Or the middle, a balance of both.

not sure how you could say we got screwed out of a reality

at least we are self aware, thats a big lottery win in the lifestyle stakes

secondly we live in the best generation so far. would you rather live in a time where dentistry was done with rocks?

we are the most advanced species we know, and for all we know the most advanced species in the universe. saying we got a raw deal is just dumb

You need to go to bed wih a beautiful woman.

Serious btw, not just saying.

yeh nah...look at some of the images and extrapolate the tragedies behind them from last century...

or better still go back to Medieval Times where 1 in 3 kids didn't make it to 5 years of age and you were considered a pensioner at 35.

Know where I would rather be.

Yeah some terrible shit happens, there is a lot of hardship in the world, but it's better than nothing I guess.

I can't imagine a thought that would constitute a greater waste of time and energy. Wishing you were dead I can almost understand, at least it could actually happen.

yeah I think this sometimes, everyone probably does at stages of life when it gets tough, If I wasn't born then I wouldn't have to go through this daily grind, waking up early hours for work and repeat the process everyday. The old awake, arise, eat, work, sleep, awake, arise. Also especially on bay 13. But in saying that their are a lot of times I do enjoy and think to myself that I'm lucky to be alive.

And eat more chocolate NOW !

Wash by hand and not use the machine?

I have googled the world as to how to reduce lint in a top loader. Reduce the detergent. Don't use softner. Soon as it shows the signs of shittin itself its out to the kerb and will buy a side loader.

Not really. You'll die anyway so the trip in between is something to do - worst case scenario, you'll never have to remember it again. Best? You had a good life and you'll be a bit sad about going.

Also, don't be a massive pussoir. Of course the world is full of negativity and shit things: cancer, loneliness, massacres, religions, but it's full of amazing things too: the first game of the season, November, seeing girls. Of course you are a total pussy if you're sitting around excluding news of genocides and not putting attention towards your 'bad' emotions. That's not constructive and those feelings are just as valid and just as much of a symptom of existence as good things.

How old are you?

If you're younger than about 28, you also don't have it better than your ancestors – this is basically the first time in a hundred years that children will have it worse than their parents; less money, worse jobs, no home-ownership, dwindling resources, shit like climate change...

If you can't face up to those realities, you will have the lamest, pussiest life around. People die. And people don't just die next to their kids and a loving wife – they get run over by tanks (and scream eeerughghg), **** themselves up with a nine, kill their parents [via mental illness]... it's the way life is. You can't dismiss it but you can't let it overrule you. There is a lot to be said for being desensitised and realistic. And you can still be cynical and prone to hate and anger and still be caring and into enjoying things (profoundly).

I don't know about that. My grandfather wasn't so excited by the depression, the Russian front and the invasion of communism.

The reality is, life has never been so good for so many. The question still remains, how do we continue to improve.
