St Kilda, which is eyeing West Coast Eagle Michael Gardiner to replace Everitt in a complicated swap, could now be an even stronger contender in next month's trade period should it receive Carlton's first-round draft pick.
"St Kilda ... eyeing West Coast Eagle Michael Gardiner" = "Gardiner a Saint"??

West Coast let Gardiner go??
No way.

Chick is not a neccessity for us, we can take him or leave him. It's not like we are desperate enough for us to let go of Gardiner, he is simply not on the market. Chick has not been in that great of form and Gardy is too valuable for us.

Caro really has lost the plot...she's a real froot loop.

Just to correct one thing, and the inability of Caro to get facts right from last year whilst commenting on this year might dampen my enthusiasm somewhat

"Incredibly, the Saints could capitalise on Carlton's salary-cap issues and win by default the first pick in the national draft for the third consecutive season. Even with its money worries, it promises to be a robust trade period for St Kilda with what it has to offer. There are really no excuses next season and Collingwood has shown how quickly football fortunes can change. The Magpies won a wooden spoon in 1999, the same year that Carlton played off for the premiership."

Freo on traded the first pick to Hawthorn. Whether the Hawks erred in taking Hodge over Ball at no.1 due to immediate unavailability remains to be seen.

Lots and lots and lots of rumours around Melbourne about Gardiners off-field goings on is the reason why the WCE want to think about getting rid of him

Oh for frag's sake...

[Mr Eagle pulls the pre-written response out of his pocket again]

The Eagles have publicly declared Michael Gardiner untradeable.

And believe me - if the club is giving a straight answer, it's serious. Getting straight answers out of West Coast administrati is like pulling teeth sometimes...

Why would the Eagles give up one of the best young ruckmen in the league for a midfielder with 3 or 4 years left?

The Eagles wouldn't trade Gardiner for Headland, and he'd be the number 1 priority.

Find someone else to gossip about.

Oh, BTW, bringing up 6 month old drug rumours doesn't make a story.

Im going to laugh and laugh when come the end of trading week....Gardiner is still an Eagle. He wont be dealt. Even if there is off field problems...WC are one of the most professional clubs in the league and will sort it out. No need to trade him. And if he has to be traded, it will be for more than Chick...throw in Hodge and we'll talk.

Hawthorn will probably throw in a raw (read crap) ruckman like Loats with Chick, St. Kilda will get Gardiner and give Hawthorn a high draft pick to go with Everitt.

This is rubbish. If the Eagles were willing to take Chick + draft picks to release Gardiner, then why would Hawthorn involve St Kilda? We'd just take Gardiner who is much better and younger than Everitt.
Don't believe that WC will trade Gardiner though.

if there were a problem (not that i'm saying there is)
why would one of the most professional clubs in a league keep a player that could possibly be a bad influence on the rest of the club? It would seem ridicolous to hold onto to him when they could trade him off when his market value is at its peak. That being said he's a fantastic player and there's no way the eagles will trade him to hawthorn, st kilda or anyone for that matter......except essendon.....in a straight swap for daniel mcalister :D

If WC are one of the most professional clubs in the league, how come there is a drug and behavioural problem running deep in the player's ranks ?

If that were true they wouldn't win many games of footy. They have won more games and some against quality opposition, than a team with any serious problems like those you are referring to. They may have a player or two who has dabbled but that does not by definition constitue a problem.
