What a preformance from Barry, that sliding tackle on Eto was nothing short of amazing.

Naismith was fantastic too, didn't stop working today. Him and Martinez proved many people wrong today.

Yeah, he saved our bacon when Howard dudded that up.
Loving his lightning passes, so accurate too.
Naismith turned the ball over a heap, but scored that simple header.
A goal is a goal though.
It was so funny seeing Osman, Naismith and Jelavic link up for the goal after I said I didn't want them in the 11

Barry MOTM by a mile. Saved a certain goal too. Best way to put his performance was 'natural'. Knew where to be, knew where to pass, fits right in & I think Goodison loves him already.

Naismith was a workhorse (probably why he's in the team), very glad he got a goal on his birthday too. Probably his best game for us as well. Another great thing, another clean sheet! Onwards and upwards!! COYB

Naismith reminds me of Timmy Cahill a little bit, not the most talented player, not great technically, give %100 every time they play, an absolute work horse, drops back defensively and somehow manages to pop up and score.

Cant fault naismith for his work rate and he did create lots of openings in the final 3rd but he gave way too many balls away in dangerous positions in our own half and his long range passing was crap.

Barry motm for me. Was immense!!

Id like to see Mirallas given more of a chance up front. With the style we nowplay he would be totally suited to it.

I dont know what has happened to Jela but im now starting to believe he isnt up to it. Ability to create space and bring other players into the play is crap, hardly ever beats a defender when a long ball is played. So glad lukaku has joined, he will hopefully bang in 15 for us this season and Mirallas and Kone will be able to provide support at diff stages.

Really happy with Barkley too, yes he tried to take on one too many players but he has a great football brain and will only get better. I honestly think he is one of the most talented English players to have come through. His deft touch is un English like! Hopefully he will be encouraged to take more chances from outside thr box as he has a great peg on him.

Osman had a rough 15 min patch where he gave away a lot of balls in dangerous positions but managed to get it together later in the game

Distin was immense as always

Things are looking good for us lads. I only think we need an additional quality striker for next season along with 1 more player who is flexible on playing on either wing or in an AM role

That was a hell of a performance. And to think our main concern about Martinez is that we'd be shipping three goals a week.

Barry, obviously, was fantastic. Everything he was good at is exactly what Osman is rubbish at. Worked hard, won the ball back, played it quickly, played it positively and most importantly played it accurately. Given how impressed I was with McCarthy too, I'd hope that Osman's time is just about up, as he was dreadful.

Worth commending Mirallas too, who worked harder than I've ever seen him work. And then there's Naismith, who played better than I ever thought he could. I lost count of how many tackles he won on the edge of their area, not to mention being our aerial target and our goal scorer. Huge game.

The game was won, IMO, when Martinez took Jelavic off for McCarthy and moved Kev up. They hardly looked like scoring after that because McCarthy was breaking everything up, and Kev actually have us an outlet and let us keep the ball a bit.

Brilliant game, brilliant performance and a brilliant win. The sky is the limit now.

Oh, and Lukaku next week.

Only managed to see the highlights so looking forward to watching the replay tonight.:)
Even for a neutral, it was just a really good game. Second half was just Chelsea domination really, but the first half was end to end stuff. I said to the gf about 30mins in that it had been a really open game and there was only a few fouls by then, and that was weird.

I still think we looked more likely to score when Jelavic went off. Mirallas was able to still cause them some headaches.

And I must say, incredibly impressed with Garreth Barry. Osman I hate to say again.... Is looking like the weak link. The concern we seemed to have going into this season was leaking goals, but 3 clean sheets on the trot is a good result. Lukaku and Kone to perhaps come in mean we can hopefully start putting some goals on the board.

Chelsea dominated the first 20 minutes after half time, but then when Mirallas moved forward and McCarthy came on, we completely took control. Mirallas up top meant we actually had an outlet when we got the ball, and put Chelsea on the back foot a bit, and McCarthy was brilliant at breaking up so much of Chelsea's forward play.

Martinez deserves a lot of praise for his role in the win.

The second half was always going to be dominated by Chelsea, we were a goal up so it was only natural for Chelsea to throw everything at us and for us to play more defensive i don't think the second half meant that Chelsea played better than us it just meant that they played attacking and we played defensive, we still had more shots on target than them.

Yes a little bit of luck may have been on our side but luck always seems to be against us, especially in the first three games of the season so it's great that we finally got a little bit of luck.

We've also still got Pienaar, McCarthy/Gibson and Lukaku to add to that side!

There was one bit of play in the first half where he just walked into the opposition and immediately turned the ball over. I was quite baffled at that.

To Osman's defense he did get better as the game went on, It'll be interesting to see if he keeps his spot or if McCarthy gets his first start.

It will actually be really interesting to see how we do line up tomorrow night on the topic, I know he got an assist last week but i wouldn't start Jelavic again, going off what Martinez said Kone's injury is pretty good now but it didn't sound like he was ready to start so it will be interesting to see if he keeps Jelavic, puts Lukaku straight into the first XI or does he play Mirallas up top and then put Deulofeu on the wing.

Whilst his not in our best XI I think it's important that Naismith starts, he was really good last week and I think it's important to reward the players after a good game so the whole squad knows that if they preform well they will be rewarded and get to stay in the team.
