Fun fact - of all of the eight foundation clubs from 1897 (including Fitzroy), there is only one match up that has never produced a drawn game - Geelong and the Swans. There have been plenty of very close games between the Cats and the Swans over the years, but never one where the scores between them level at the final siren.

Another fun fact - Fremantle played in a drawn match for about four days - it was the sirengate match with St Kilda in Tassie, where it was a draw at the final siren but the result was changed to a Fremantle win by one point later in the week.

It was not until 2013, eighteen years after their formation, before they played in their first draw that wasn't overturned by the AFL (against Sydney).

In the major competitions around Australia, draws come up from time to time in the AFL, SANFL, VFL, TAC Cup/NAB League and NEAFL. Some years go by without a draw, but usually there is a tied match at least once a season. However, in the WAFL the lack of draws is quite astounding. For example, there was only one draw in the 1950s, no draws in 10 years between 1974 and 1984, two drawn matches in the 1990s and no draws since 2012.

The current draw droughts for the 10 WAFL teams are as follows:

West Coast Eagles - No draws (commenced 2019)
West Perth & East Perth - 2012
Claremont & Swan Districts - 2010
Perth - 2009
Subiaco - 2001
South Fremantle - 1997
Peel Thunder - No draws (commenced 1997)
East Fremantle - 1989 (only draw since 1974)
