Good doco on ABC iview called Metal Evolution for any metal fans. Ongoing series.

Sam Dunn has made quite a few awesome doco's on metal. The Metal Evolution series is essentially borne out of Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and Global Metal. I'm not into Iron Maiden, but his doco on them was excellent as was the doco on Rush.

I've really enjoyed the Metal Evolution series, even the ones about certain genres of metal that I particularly dislike. \m/

Agree Dylan, i've only seen a couple of eps, never heard of this series before. Going through and watching them now, and i'm still really enjoying the ones about styles i don't like. Just really interesting as a metal head.

Wisdom teeth out, very lucky it was a quick surgery and minimal fuss. And if I wasn't grateful enough, I just got a reality check - my boss (who has been very good to me and looks out for me) is now in an induced coma after emergency surgery to his neck. Hope he's okay.

This is a long overdue reform... as always Brisbane is a good decade or so behind Melbourne and Sydney in this sort of stuff but we are getting there.

Makes the CBD "hole in the wall" cafe viable. Hopefully a more liberal attitude regarding regulation of genuine street art (as opposed to mindless "tagging" graffiti) and street performance develops with it... If so, Burnett Lane has a lot of potential.

Agreed. Noticed this immediately when living in Brisbane a couple of years ago. The closest thing to happen in my time in Brisbane was a small development, which was kind of like a laneway was the "L" shape walkway connecting Queen St Mall and Albert St, which even then at least made use of small spaces, not too dissimilar to the many Melbourne and Sydney spots.

Brisbane was also very similar to Perth in this regard quite a few years earlier again. Laws were changed in Perth around the time I left and within about 18 months, the Perth CBD transformation with laneway restaurants and bars and coffee shops revitalised the city, especially the CBD and it is finally vibrant unlike years prior when you had to go to Leederville, Subiaco, Mt Lawley etc.

Hopefully with some inspired small business owners, the same could and should happen in Brisbane and make the city more vibrant.

Meh, don't care all to much about bars to be honest. In my opinion, Brisbane lacks a pub culture. The closest places that represent pubs pretty much double as nightclubs these days. Especially in the western suburbs.

Still hoping to move down south. At least there is decent pubs in the city of Geelong :p

PFK's Big Plan:

Get a forklift licence (I have driven them before, good times) and get another First Aid Certificate and get back into Warehousing, seems to be a fair few of those jobs going around ol' BrisVegas.

Warning, political comment ahead...

Tony Abbott's recent comments about deprioritising public transport infrastructure projects in favour of more road funding have left me feeling vomitous.

Brisbane is already choked by the "more roads at any cost" mentality that was rife under Joh, particularly when Russ Hinze was minister for roads. As a result, public transport has been criminally neglected in Brisbane over the last 30 years in Brisbane. Anyone who has been to world class cities like London, Paris or even Melbourne know the benefits of quality public transport.

The Cross River Rail and Inner City Metro projects have the potential to completely transform Brisbane for the better and I will be gutted if they fall over as a result of this visionless thinking by the Coalition. The last thing we need is more roads and cars in the inner metropolitan area for ****s sake.

Mr MM has bought himself an apple IPad....he's in the middle of setting it up now. The language has been as colourful as a rainbow, and the phone bill has gone up considerably after all the calls to his nephew, who I might add is at work...his boss will be happy!

Surely it can't be that bad setting it up!...it sure is a whizbang little gizzmo though....I shall have to have a go at it myself..could be interesting!!:confused:

From the pages of Miss D.

In a surprise development, ageing actor Alan Alda has come out in support of North Korea's aggressive rhetoric and hostility toward the US and it's allies. Sources close to the actor suspect Mr Alda is expecting the commission of another series of M*A*S*H* if fighting begins in the region.

Alan Alda. The only man who can surpass Joel Patfull in terms of good looks (seriously, in his prime he was a HUNK and even now he's aged very well!).

And I am writing this week off as the worst week ever. If I am still sane by the end of it it'll be a bloody miracle.

Followingthe horrendous happenings with the two nurses near Toowoomba nearly 40 years ago.
I am hoping that if something like that happened now, someone could have saved them.

Mobile phones and better communications maybe, but god, how terrible for the families to know that no one tried to help.

No doubt these will be toll roads as well, because the previous few toll roads they have built have turned out so so well. It is the same up the northside, they have been talking about a new rail line from Petrie out towards Recliffe for years, but it always gets pushed back. With places like North Lakes booming, it's something that is desperately needed. Bangkok was a pleasure to get around in with the sky train they have set up there. Not only does it connect you to the important places in the city, which you can then catch other transport from, be it tuk tuk or a water taxi, but it's cheap !

The public transport in Brisbane is a disgrace for what we have to pay for it. Only time i use it is for the footy, and that's because it's free.
