Agreed Pusswah, the old freo wouldn't have clawed back at all and held on for an honourable margin of a loss. Go and watch our past matches against Richmond, the dees & North and revisit this thread again E.

I'm not condoning our game today at all, I was absolutely livid with some of our players (namely all of them) but apart from some shocking ump decisions towards the end of the game - we were in it and could have had it sewn up. This is in stark contrast to the freo of old when down by 40pts at half time.

We recovered very well and probably showed more in the third quarter than Sydney did the whole game

Barlow was exceptional - can't wait to see him get a full game and 40 possesions and a few goals :D

Pav was disappointing, did a few hard things, but needed to step up and take the game by the scruff of the neck and turn it. But luckily there was guys like MDB, Mzungu, Bradley, Mayne etc. who all did step up.

Hill got better as the game got on and could afford to get some space - those being critical of Hill are out of line a bit, as the whole team was poor for the first half, not just Hill, so the criticism is unwarranted

To only go down by 11 points is respectable - our second half was enough to redeem ourselves and Lyon's "no excuse" policy is great. Now let's down Brissy next week please

C'mon guys don't be too hard on yourselves, Reid was almost unstoppable in the first half (imagine if he didn't get that shoulder knock:eek:).

You showed alot of heart in the second half, respect.

The coach himself said it... " Dont expect miracles straight away" or words to that effect, i cant be bothered finding it.... but ffs !! we only lost by 13 points, we are hardly in a crisis , look at poor old Melbourne.

It's not Bigfooty if people are not going silly and over the top fretting over a loss.

The first half was a failure but the team switched on in the second half. The game already got away from us but we sure came close to causing a spill over. Plenty of positives and negatives to consider from that match.
I'm looking forward to the Lions match next week. See how our side responds to that first half capitulation and second half fight back.

It was pretty bad but you've gone off the ****in deep end with this statement.

I know, I didn't really mean it. More in context really with the promising start at home last week and the expectation that we wouldn't be so flaky on the road under Ross. We were awful in the first half. I just had that here we go, same shit different day feeling. Sucker punched again by Freo.
But yes it's early days and the fightback was promising.

Without a doubt we will easily defeat the lions next week at subi. Would we handle them so easily away?
I'm convinced that we would've of won today if the game was at Subiaco. We have a different mindset playing interstate and Ross needs to fix that ASAP. All of our disastrous performances last year were against bottom 8 teams away and while there were many contributing factors to those defeats we should've never lost to close to a 100 against north and the dees. At the end of the day we have a deplorable away record that needs to be dealt with.

Take a step back people... new jumper, new coach...same old dockers.

Supporting us again are you Billy?

So when did you jump back on...after the Cats win last week??

Your obviously a weak, gutless individual mate. At least, after ditching our club have the balls mate to keep supporting your new side.

Not that it excuses the performance in the first half but many Freo sides of the past would have rolled over and taken a hiding. At least we fought back and made a game of it.

That said a few players need a good hard look at themselves.

I hoped someone in that changeroom taped the spray that Lyon probably dished out at half time and kept it for future purposes. Actually got the players first to the ball more often and kept pushing forward quickly and with numbers. Let's make subiaco a fortress again this season like back in 02/03, winning only 5 home games last year was excruitating.

He wouldn't have kicked straight for long.

Wouldn't have got a touch in the 3rd, and might've kicked a goal in the last.

Kiss my rusty bullet hole you little key board warrior.

Miracles? I just expected our team, pepped up by "the best coach in the land", to beat Sydney in Sydney as they have done for the past two years running.

Lyon's record against Longmire is now 0/3.

Considering the way the game was going for a while there I'm not overly concerned.

I can't imagine many people would have considered us favourites going into that game. Our midfield is lead by players that need room to play, gone are the days of Freo's midgit brigade shining on smaller grounds like the SCG.

Definitely not panic stations yet.

Shining on the SCG? We've only ever beaten them there in 10 & 11, when our midfield was full of lanky bastards... like it is now. We'd never beaten them at the SCG with our midget brigade in the past.

And Reg, you were eerily quiet this time last week. Why so chatty now? Nobody felt the need to pull you up when Ross knocked off the reigning premiers in his 1st game, but you'll take the 1st available crack?

Must be a interesting experience watching Freo games for you Reg and hoping they lose in case Ross is shown to be a good coach.

You can think what you like. I presented some facts that some of the simplistic Harvey bad/Lyon good brigade didn't like to face. That doesn't make me Charles Manson.

Yeah, because two posts makes all the difference. Is there really a need to invent things to make a point Nickos? I posted far more last week.

Knocks off the reigning premiers in his first game? You make it sound very heroic, but it wasn't very different from how we usually play against Geelong early in the season.

The jury is still out.
