Why are you so desperate for any posting about Fremantle to be positive? Are you usually this fearful of criticism?

I didn't even criticise, I just stated the facts. I thought they might give somebody who thought that Lyon was going to be our saviour pause for thought. It wasn't as if I was declaring the move a failure.

As I said, the jury is still out.

The broadcast showed Lyon a couple of times with head in hands in seeming disbelief at a couple of the brain fades.

That he made changes at half time that got us back in the game shows he's got the game day nous to make a big difference but I think it is going to be some time before he's managed to put a stop to the silly things the players do at times.

I hate to say it but he has to unfremantle the team or parts of it before we can really move forward. It's underway but will take some time.

Agree that we need to settle a bit. After the first few minutes you could tell this was going to be a typical Freo loss. The ball bounced away from us; simple skill errors; Sam Reid kicked straight; Hill couldn't touch the ball; nothing worked.

But to our credit we fought back a bit, got close, and anything could have happened if MZ got that free with 3 minutes left. I'm still confident we'll win our next 2 games.

Yeah liked listening to the commentary esp. Roos have to concede that the ump missed free's - must have been like pulling teeth. Damaging +10 or so in free's for SYD. Would like to know if the club asked for a please explain on the non-Mzu call...

Replacing Ballas with Jack Anthony was a big mistake as we went in too tall for the SCG.

Given Ross Lyon's and Mark Stone's experience with both Sydney and the SCG I would have expected better, especially with our forward structures in the first half.

A lot of money came in for Fremantle in the betting after it was announced that Shane Mumford was out and Mark Seaby was taken off the field in a reserves game to cover for him as we all knew that Seaby was going to be smashed by Sandi.

So what did Sydney do?

They just roved Sandi's taps as if he was the ruckman for the Swans.

Out of the 55 hit outs that Sandi had how many went to a Freo player?

Really basic mistakes here and I would have expected better by both our players and our coaches.

Great fightback in the 3rd agreed. But to fall 46 points behind and not find a match up for Sydney's more damaging players, especially Sam Reid, was downright disgraceful if you ask me.

As Cameron Ling said on Game Day yesterday, "Fremantle should have won that game given the stats."

No desperation, in fact I dish out the criticism on here when it's due regularly. Either that or i'm just too enraged with our performances to engage in splitting hairs in public discussion about it so i'm certainly not fearful of criticism.

You, however seem to have nothing to add unless it validates your disappointment with the axing of Harves. Everyone here was better than you last week for not rubbing your nose in it, but you had to be the 1st person to pipe up this week and have a crack. Pathetic.

I never said he was the messiah. I said he was better than Harvey.

Yes, and much was made about the fact that Harvey never won against Lyon. I just pointed out that Lyon has never won against Longmire, does that make Longmire a better coach? Probably not, given his lack of experience, but then everything isn't all as black and white as people made out in the Harvey v Lyon debate.

What would people rub my nose in? The fact that we had another close game against Geelong at home, like we have done regularly in recent history? That's not really something to be gloating over, and certainly not the significant change that could be expected given the euphoria over Lyon's signing last year.

I haven't even had a crack yet, I simply pointed out a fact. I think its you and Clay who have cracked.

I don't think anyone was actually using that stat as their main reasoning why Lyon is better than Harvey.

A couple of interesting stats up to the end of round two are:

- We are # 1 in the competition for contested possessions.
- We are # 1 in hitouts (Obvious)
- We are # 1 in clearances.

The most disappointing stat is that we are second last in one percenters. We are also right at the bottom for bounces.

Rebounds or effective rebounds if it is a stat, we would be getting smashed in.

Wow, that's pretty crazy to think..

Shows if we get some direction and players actually playing for one another we could do some damage.

Would you believe me if I said that Sandi has more clearances than Judd, Watson and NDS?

Would you also believe me if I said that Hill had the second most clearances for Freo.

Sandi - 15
Hill - 12
Barlow - 10
Fyfe - 8

(Judd - 14, Watson - 12, NDS - 12)

There was also a comment that someone couldn't believe that SCOS is playing WAFL. He traveled as an emergency on the weekend.

Yes both he and Jay Van Berlo flew as the emergencies because their respective WAFL matches were on Monday. So that allowed them to return to Perth on Saturday night ready to line up on Monday if they didn't play.
