Thomas simply because he was borderline elite in 2010.
And he is also the highest paid spud of all the spuds mentioned.
I do take delight in his current situation because of the smirks and crowing done by all those Blues fans who thought they had got a genuine superstar, who genuinely wanted to play for their jumper.
You know the ones, "everything looks better in blue" jokers.
Jokes on them now.

I don't care who Daisy left us for, to see what he has become now is a ******* tragedy when you compare it to the player he was for our club.

This is what he'll be remembered for too, not for being a key part of a premiership side.

What has happened with Dale Thomas is nothing short of a tragedy. I was in agreement with Leigh Mathews when he suggested that for a brief period in 2010-2011 Thomas was close to the best player in the AFL. He had it all, skill, a bit of toughness, preparedness to do the hard stuff and plenty of flair.

I was told (I was OS at the time) that Collingwood knew he wasnt going to recover the way he previously had been from whatever injury he picked up (I think late 2011) and was therefore prepared to let Carlton pay overs for him. I was dirty with him going to Carlton, but what has happened to him as a player is tragic - he was a great player for Collingwood, and in that 2010 flag side - and I hope he comes back for a few beers to feel once again a part of the club.

(but if I was a bluebagger I would be unhappy with the buy)

I'm sure he will be able to come back to the Pies post career.
We don't forget our Premiership players.
But he made it hard on himself to reconcile with the player group. The singing of the Carlton theme song at his last mad Monday, the on field antics of his first v Collingwood game.
Not one player went to shake his hand post match. Speaks volumes to me.

If Thomas continued and built on his form from 2010/11 to the present he'd go down as a star if not one of the all time greats. Pity injuries ruined his career as he's exactly the type (hard running, quick outside player with tricks up forward) that we're lacking.

Well we are paying Treloar less than what Daisy is getting so there you go... even paying Sidebottom nearly 200 grand less.
