Tony Sheahan had to be first with the news, even though all family members have not been notified.

He’s not first with anything - as I said, he wouldn’t know. Simply going off rumours.

He doesn’t have some contact that journalists don’t have. If anything it’s the other way around.

It’s no different to any random person saying it.

Tony couldn’t run to his phone quick enough. You can literally tell in the language he uses in his tweet that he wanted to be first to break the news.

RIP Colin if true - he always held a low rep and I have no idea why, he was a genuinely good footballer.

First the shooting in Pittsburgh, then Leicester City's owner being killed in a helicopter crash and now the death of a very recent high profile ex-footballer. What the * is going on today?

RIP.

So sad. Always liked him as a player. At his best, he was very, very good. It's such a shame his career was cut short.

Tragic news. RIP :(

Of course he is...

Reported this morning that some family members found out via Twitter.

He should be strung up by his ******* balls. He's always been a *******.

The accident was 6 hours earlier and the name was already being floated on here before Sheahan tweeted anything.

Yes, so what?

6 hours isn't nearly enough time to notify all family members in most cases.

All media organizations were running with an unnamed male. Sylvia wasn't actually named in online news articles until this morning. That should give you an indication of when everyone was properly notified.

He is a journalist, not some random bloke on twitter. He has 6,000 followers. He has an ethical obligation to be better than he is.

He's an embarrassment and it's not the first or the last time he will do something like this, he's just a grub.

So if the name was already being posted on here, is it really worth being so upset about a journo posting the name somewhere else.
